Affordable but nice hotel
Only a block & a half from the Queensboro Subway. Safe neighborhood, clean room, and a much cheaper price than Manhattan. Only 2 subway stops from Fifth Avenue, and 5 from Times Square.

good for the price
Hotel was clean, staff friendly, close to subway which was perfect for us. Neighborhood felt safe during day, but would be a little wary going out after 11:00 pm. For the price of hotels in New York City, this was very reasonable for those on a budget.

Sightseeing tip:
Not Applicable
Cab fare can be expensive, but if you take the subway it is cheap and most sightseeing areas are only about 20 min on the subway. Subways were pretty clean and we felt very safe on them. 911 memorial a must see, but go early in day. Statue of liberty also a must see. Make sure you get the tickets that let you into the mounument.

Can't complain
Hotel is totally ok, location really good, only a few stops away from Times Square and Grand Central. Area is not dingy or dangerous. Cab from JFK was $35, cab to Laguardia $17. Great sandwich/burrito place close by (down the road and then across the street, has something with "Tozt" in its name - cheap and yummy). Staff was friendly, we had a quiet room on the 9th floor. Well, New York is expensive, that's why we paid $154 per night for a hotel that would probably cost $80-90 somewhere else... Can't complain, though. Breakfast wasn't bad, you should come early, though (otherwise too many people and not enough room). Complementary Wifi.

Perfect accomodation in NY
The hotel was very close to Manhattan, only two subway stations. The station is in 7 minutes walking distance, so the hotel is easily approachable even with large luggages. The surrounding area is safe, we felt comfortable even at midnight. If you have any concerns, you can take a taxi what costs less then 15$ from Times Square. Very clean rooms, towel change and housekeeping every day, fridge, LCD TV, etc. Decent breakfast. I can recommend this hotel to anybody who is visiting NY and want to get a cheap, safe, close hotel to Downtown.

Stayin the basement
I checked in at midnight and I was told to choose between the two rooms -- one by the vending machine and the other in the basement. I need a quiet place to sleep and I went to stay in the basement.
