Staff quick to correct accommodation.

We had reserved a non-smoking room, and in fact, when we arrived, we were informed that the entire hotel was non-smoking. However, upon entering our room, we were overwhelmed with a deep smoke scent that permeated everything. We immediately expressed our dissatisfaction at the front desk and due to a cancellation, we were offered another room...probably one of the nicest rooms and views in the place...and no smell of smoke. They seemed quick to please, however, I have to wonder...what if the place had been full and no other rooms available? If the hotel is indeed smoke free, for how long has it been? Have they not had time to do renovations to get rid of the smell? In addition, we miss the old bar lounge area with the beautiful glass window area...hope they re-do this area soon as the current bar area has no view whatsoever.

Lake Placid in the fall is outstanding

Hotel price through Orbitz was probably reasonable considering the location close to main street. A 2-night visit doesn't give a lot of time to do things, but we had a good trip. The room was very "roomy" but had no coffee packets for the coffee pot - only sweetener, powdered creamer, and a stirer. No coffee could be found anywhere. And a big heater/A/C combination was covered with cobwebs through and through the vents in it. Not a pretty sight! The tub had dirty footprints (child's) in it. Otherwise, it was ok. I would stay there again but would make sure it had a better cleaning. But thanks, Orbitz, for getting me the place at almost the last minute and at a price I could afford.

Not worth the price

Front desk staff very preoccupied and not very friendly. Maid staff was excellent and very attentive. Hotel dated in the hallways and rooms, all the money went in to the lobby. Bathrooms are very old and small.

Dump in the Mountains - Agreed

Agree with previous review. Unbelievably poor conditions and customer service. Advertised Wi-Fi but no Wi-Fi. Told to use Wi-Fi from High Peaks Resort next door. Pitiful house keeping. Pathetic "continental breakfast". Excellent example of the owner "milking" this place for all they can get for it base on its location. Impossible to list all the problems we encountered.

Dump in the mountains

The rooms were not clean, ammenties were missing. It was being painted and redone with the workers living in the hotel. One room had pizza and beer in it with blood on the wall and they put somebody in the room without inspecting it. This place was a dump and I would not recommend it to anyone. There was no place to dine you had the leave the hotel and I had older people with me and it was not handicap accessible.

Need Refinement

This is not a Ramada Inn, the picture is wrong. I believe it was formerly a Hilton, now called the Lake Placid Summit Resort. There is a hodge podge of different buildings, I stayed in the building which is across the street from the Dancing Bear Restaurant. I am a frequent visitor to Lake Placid, this trip was to day hike in the mountains and take in the Village. The staff tried to make the best of what they had to work with. The facility needs attention. Carpets stained, walls patched and unpainted, doors stuck open, in general it was looking well worn during peak tourist season. The room was clean, but dated. I booked a special rate for Businessmen, which required you to present a business card. I was given a room adjoining the pool with no view. Disappointing.

Excellent Location

We could just tell that this hotel has been very well used. Stains on the carpets, dirty walls, faded artwork on the walls... windows not clean. Continental Breakfast boring. But the pool and hot tub were perfect, with lots of fresh towels. Since I am a swimmer, this was important to me!

Expensive but comfortable

There was lots to do around the hotel including shopping and sight seeing. The walls were so thin I could here the people in the room next door just talking normal, the privacy would have been nice.
