Good family ski getaway
Overall, this hotel has beautiful lobby and common areas which were nicely decorated for Winter Holidays. It is located right off Main Street and is a short walk to Lake Placid Downtown. The pool and surrounding area are very nice but get crowded in the evenings. The only complaint we have is cleaningness of the room - there was so much dust on and inside the furniture, even the closet rack was covered with dust. Wish cleaning staff would spend a little more time cleaning and not cutting the corners.

The suite we had at the Crowne Plaza was perfect! The floor we were on was adults ONLY!! Very quiet and relaxing. All the shops of Lake Placid were only a few steps away. We will definately return to this hotel next time we are in placid!

Very Nice Place!
The stay here was wonderful. The food was good including room service. The views from the room and loby were great! The only down side was the room bed was like sleeping on a rock. The location was also why i picked the Hotel. Just a short walk down to main street and the shuttle buss will take you everywhere else in town. Compaired to the other places in town we stayed at this is the place we keep comming back to.

What a view!
The highlight of our trip to Lake Placid was our 2-night stay in true mountain comfort. Dining room food was very good--especially the salmon dinner. Our walk around town and the boat tour sealed the deal. We'll return if we can.

Awesome 3 day getaway
The hotel was perfectly located in the heart of downtown Lake Placid. There were so many different activities in town to participate in. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We got a free upgrade to a room with a fireplace for booking with Orbitz which was awesome. The room was small, but served it's purpose. It was definitely clean. I love the new washable bedding as compared to the older bedspreads hotels used to have. I would definitely stay here again!!

Room with a view but tiny beds
Nice view of Whiteface and mirror lake, however because we booked with Orbitz and not directly with the hotel we got stuck with a room with two full size beds instead of a king. Not exactly comfortable for a married couple. Even when we called to ask for a king room, they said because it was through Orbitz they could not help us. VERY disappointing. For the money, I expected more. Be sure to call and ask about a King bed if you need one, they are very unaccommodating for anyone that books outside of their hotel site.

Fantastic Lake Placid Visit
Great hotel...location, view, amenities, room, comfort and staff were awesome. Probably the cleanest room I've ever stayed in. Plenty of shopping on Main St and world class food. Took in the Olympic tours, Whiteface Mtns, the Wild Center in Tupper Lake and a great plane tour thru the Adirondack area. Great trip would have loved to stay longer.

So promising...alas
Heard great things about this hotel so was expecting smooth sailing. It is without a doubt attractive and well located. But our room, ostensibly nonsmoking, had a strong odor of stale cigarettes. When my wife and I complained, we were first told that it couldn't possibly be cigarette smoke, because the hotel has a no-smoking policy. Eventually the staff person offered another us another room. This time, the air conditioning wasn't working properly. We let the front desk know this was the case before we ran out to dinner, and they promised it would be fixed by the time we got back. Of course, when we returned to our room it was still stifling, but at that point we were too tired to request a new room...so all in all an unrestful night's sleep. The next morning, we didn't get an apology--just a lame "explanation," and no adjustment to our bill. The breakfast spread was fair but not particularly good, though coffee was decent. They

L'Autre Version restaurant in Old Montreal is tres chic yet comfortable and unpretentious. Delicious, inventive, carefully prepared food, served by knowledgeable, attentive, friendly, and attractive wait staff. Lovely garden dining area. A bit pricey but well worth it.

Beautiful location, comfortable room
Probably the best views of any hotel in Lake Placid, though it's location atop a steep hill makes walking back from town a bit arduous. Very well maintained, very clean. Comfortable, spacious room. Would've been nice if breakfast was included, but nothing else to complain about...

Short walk from hotel
Nice option for breakfast in warm weather is to get something to-go and walk down to the lake via the public library. There are Adirondack chairs there. Lovely setting.
