The Sagamore
Disappointed Customer Sep 7, 2009
We went to this hotel expecting luxury and pampering and instead we got nothing like that. Basically if you do not stay in ... the main hotel at this resort you might as well not even go. The rooms in the lodge are very ordinary and not worth the money. We were located right next to the playground where children were screaming and playing at all hours of the day, early morning and late at night. There were about a million kids at this hotel. The maid service didn't clean our room two of the five days we were there. They came early in the morning and if you were in the room they never came back. We found coffee still in the coffee maker in the room when we arrived. The staff and the hotel only seem to care about you if your staying in the main hotel because the rooms there are more expensive. Very disappointed overall with the whole thing. The only positive about the place was the pool and the lake. It has a wonderful location but it is not at all worth the money. We spent a lot of money this week thinking it would be worth it and it just wasn't at all.

Underwhelmed
Tracy Jun 27, 2008
For all we've heard about the Sagamore, my wife and I were very underwhelmed and very dissapointed with our stay 2 weeks ago. ... Although it boasts itself as a '5 star' hotel....I think '3 star' would be generous. The first lodge room they gave us was ridiculously small with a view of the 'parking lot' We immediately called the front desk and explained our dissapointment in the accomodations. We then transferred to a 'suite' which was much nicer but at a cost of more than $200. extra per night, front desk were very helpful. However the cost of the suite was very inflated. The flimsy coffeemaker in the room looked like it was purchased at the 99cent store. It made about 3 cups of coffee and the lid didn't stay fastened. And, given the cost of this hotel, it would have been nice to have been given a complimentary 'something'! Whether it be a glass of wine with dinner, a continental breakfast one morning...ANYTHING that would have made us feel the cost was worthwhile. Another dissapointment was the dinner/ fireworks cruise on the Morgan (one of the reasons we booked at Sagamore). We found out upon arriving that the boat didn't even begin it's crusies until a week after we departed. If we had known this, we would have postponed our trip. Same thing with the Sagamore's Pavillion Restaurant...hadn't opened for the season yet. One of the restuarants at the Sagamore that was open was not available to guests one of the nights due to a 'private party'. Again, since 'season' didn't officially begin, I don't know where they get off charging these outlandish room rates. I think it's obvious that the Sagamore caters to a business/conference cliente who aren't paying their own way so they don't care of the inflated cost. Don't get me a wrong, it's beautiful but not worth the price! Next time we'll spend our hard earned cash more wisely!
