The Fort William Henry Hotel and Conference Center boasts a tradition of excellence that is unequaled in the area. The reputation for providing the most conscientious and hospitable hotel service in the Adirondacks is rivaled only by the reputation for providing the most majestic lake and mountain views imaginable. Located in the very heart of the Lake George Region, surrounded by the mountains, the hotel is set on immaculately groomed grounds that overlook the southern basin of Lake George. There is so much to do at the Fort William Henry Hotel grounds. Shopping for everything from casual wear, to old-fashioned fudge, to floral arrangements dining at one of the three acclaimed restaurants and of course, a tour through the famous Fort William Henry Museum & Restoration - the setting of James Fenimore Cooper's action classic "The Last of the Mohicans." You are invited to experience the fine dining and gracious hospitality. From the magnificent sunrise until long after the sun sets, the hope you will select the Lake George area as your destination choice. resort building with lake view is very nice

Booked 1 night for 2 through Orbitz at a great price. As a former travel agent, I carefully read the room information before booking the hotel. A note of caution for travelers - there are "motel" rooms attached to the main building - the hotel and resort. The first room we viewed was a cinder block walled small cube on the first floor, with a door open to the parking lot (motel). Not attractive to two women checking in at night. We called the front desk and, to their credit, sent someone over to bring us to an identical room on the second floor. That room, however, had not been cleaned to the standard of this fine hotel. The hotel representative was very embarrassed, and then arranged to transfer us to the main building on the 5th floor with a great lake view. The room was clean, comfortable beds, oversized bathroom and with a fabulous view of Lake George in its fall splendor. There was a full breakfast buffet for $10.95 per person in the dining room and coffee to go for those of us who wanted to get on the road early. I would recommend this hotel to all Adirondack area travelers because of the commendable service from the front desk personnel. There are plenty of hotels & motels within walking distance from this hotel, but it is one of the only "charming" hotels if you take a room in the main building. Avoid the "motel" rooms at all costs.

Graduation gift to Extreme Adventure

I was disappointed in Fort Henry Resort. I thought we would be staying in the building pictured on their web- site, but instead we had a room in the motel next to it. Since I prefer having entry from a hall I always choose a Hotel. I can't say that the room was dirty, but it certainly hadn't been updated in years. The location, however, was perfect, and the staff was very friendly. The view was beautiful and we were in walking distance to stores, restaurants, etc. Would I stay there again? Only if I could stay in the Hotel that was pictured.

Fort William Henry Resort

When we checked in we were place in one of the motel rooms off the main hotel. This room reminded me of a college dorm room. The room wasn't very nice though it did have a nice view of the lake. I returned to the front desk and without so much as a question I was upgraded to a Jacuzzi room with mountain views. The service was excellent and the room was beautiful. Their grounds are a great place to be on vacation. I have been going to Lake George for over 15yrs and from now on I will absolutely be staying at the Fort William Henry Resort.

Great place for friend getaways

Our bagpipe band was there for the volunteer fireman's parade. The hotel had made arrangements with several fire departments for breakfast and other activities. The breakfast was a buffet and was available to all guests. The food was excellent and the service friendly and attentive. The room was spacious and clean, the staff were all friendly. I will definitely go back to Ft. William Henry Hotel again and again.

Quiet get-away

This was the 3rd or 4th stay we have enjoyed at the Fort William Henry. January is most certainly "off-season" for Lake George, though there are many winter activities, several businesses close for the winter months. The main dining facility was closed for dinner due to a private party. We found excellent dining less than a mile away. Breakfast at the hotel dining room was excellent, with a nice view of the Lake and several ice-fishing parties on the lake. The pool area was clean and water was VERY inviting! Over all a nice family get-away.

false advertising

the picture on the advertisement for this hotel might not be the one you stay at. they also have a small motel 8 type motel behind the one pictured I thought I was staying in the hotel in the picture but no way we were put in the motel 8 if I had wanted to stay at a motel 8 type I would have done that and saved a few hundred bucks buyer beware

OK, but....

The room was clean, quite and ready on time. There was coffee and a microwave, bath tub and walk in shower. All we really needed. The TV remote did not work and there was no hotel info in the room so we had to ask the desk clerk about services. There was no fitness center available, although we were told one was available several miles away for an additional charge. The wireless Internet was down, but I connected using a strong signal from a neighboring hotel. The extra "resort fee" was just an excuse to add to the room price, unless we missed something because there was no hotel info available to us.
