Decent Place To Stay

Arrived in NY really early early on a redeye flight before the check-in time but I was able to get into my room about an hour ahead of time. Entire hotel has wifi included so I was able to get some work done and post pictures up of my friend's wedding. Location is right next to Long Island Railroad so going into Manhattan was fairly easy. There were enough parking spots in the back as well.

Noisy the first time

They arranged me in a room facing the roads. It was noisy that night.

Great personel

The hotel looked safe. People at the desk are always nice and polite. There's always something new there every time. I guess that's why the price goes up each time. I think in the last 3 years, the price went up at least $50. I travel from PA to visit friends and only stay there for a day or two. besides the smell, price and the new "art" pictures they added on the wall in the bedrooms, I can't say I've ever been disappointed to the extreme.

not awesome

Non smoking room smelled of smoke, Changed room, the second room had an older bathroom and was not very clean. The iron.....was an awkward situation with the iron chained to the board.

iffy

The first room I got was large, renovated marble sink and smelled of smoke even though it was non smoking. I asked to change rooms and it was fine. The second room was 1/2 the size and smelled ok because the window was left open. The bathroom was half clean, I could see hairs on the sink. Tired of moving and in a rush, I made the best of it. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.

Good First Impression

Late night and day staff was extremely professional and courteous, speaking with your typical NYC/foreign accent which I understood perfectly. The Inn has recently upgraded numerous rooms in the hotel including my handicap-accessible Room #104 which I had on the first floor for a WONDERFUL 9 NIGHTS. Housekeeping was very accommodating and the quiet gentleman who assisted me was a pleasure to talk to. I experienced no outside noise on this first stay and the nearby MTA LIRR train could not be heard from my front location room. Some minor repeated slamming of other customers' doors occurred late at night from across the hall. Room bathroom was white, bright and absolutely clean. New colorful vertical display night lighting on the outside of the Inn created a warm, but nicely vibrant NYC feel of energy, and made the hotel 'pop' in the dark to easily locate after traveling all night long. No fault to the hotel, however, public transportation into NYC was tiresome and long requiring a lengthy MTA Q-36 bus ride to the MTA subway entrance on 179th Street for yet another hour-to-hour-and-a-half trip into Brooklyn. Queens Village is exceedingly far up in the Jamaican-Queens Borough. Making the necessary time allowances, my public travels became routine and easier as I ventured into the City almost daily.

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Numerous authentic eateries within walking distance, including American, Chinese, Italian, and Jamaican cuisines. Major C-Town grocery store four blocks hotel on the same street. Two Chase Banks with 24-hour ATM access three blocks from hotel on each end. New laundromat immediately next door to Inn. Numerous Jamaican 24-hour 'mom-and-pop' stores in the immediate area, as well as a 7-11 convenience store four blocks from hotel on the same street.
