Howard Johnson Inn Jamaica JFK Airport NY

Good price relative to other NY hotels, free shuttle and free breakfast, but that's about it. Only other dining option nearby was the Burger King next door. No grocery stores or other services nearby, and although it's fairly close to the airport, it's probably not a good neighborhood for visitors to wander around after dark. Have to take a bus to connect to the subway lines, 1 hour trip to downtown Manhattan.

This is a bare bones hotel that provides good value for the traveler working in the northwest suburbs, provided that your transport, dining and entertainment needs are being met elsewhere.

choose the hotel for its location to where we wanted to go in jamaica. room needed to be aired out to get rid of the muskie smell. the staff were friendly, when they were around, on 2 occasions we were waiting for someone to come to reception, the phone was just ringing and there was no one to answer it. a relative phoned and was told we were not registered at the hotel by a rude man, but i couldn't find out who that was.

it was a well maintained place, free shuttle to jfk which is less than 10mins away leaves the airport once every hour. they lock the front door late at night so it feels like a safer place already in a rather quiet area

Used it as a stopover between flights in/out of JFK. Not much around within comfortable walking if you are after a feed/drink

Staff is very friendly. Breakfast is below average. The rooms on the ground floor gives feeling as you are in the prison.

We didn't choose this hotel it was our only option since our flight was cancelled leaving JFK. Hotel staff was typical NY rude and unconcerned. Room was small, floor was dirty, outdated, and very noisy being right by the exit and garbage dumpster. The temperature controls kept us up adjusting it all night. Area is not the best and dont count on leaving to find food other than BK. Only positive was that the bed was comfortable. Avoid like the plague if possible.

This facility appears to have a dual identity as a rental facility and a residental hotel. The fact that some of the guest seem to be transitional in nature made the general atmosphere unsettling. Non-the-less, it is my opinion the Hotel & staff are doing rather well in keeping the place acceptable enough. Also, guest should be clearly told of the parking issues in the area as the parking is limited and there is no street parking in front of the hotel over night.
