Bad night turns good
frequent business traveler Sep 26, 2009
This hotel comes highly rated. The first night I checked in I specifically asked for a non smoking room. Instead I found ... the room to reek of stale cigarette smell. Turning on the air con did not help as it simply circulated the existing smoky air. I was too tired to ask for a room change. the next night I did ask for a room change but was told I originally applied for a smoking room. I checked my paperwork and found that to be untrue. The hotel front desk person and I both raised our voice a bit. He did send in someone to aerate the room. The man aerating the room sensed the same smoky atmosphere and saw me coughing. Eventually the hotel front desk was kind enough to arrange for me to have a true non smoking room across the street at the holiday inn and refund my room night (and the next night too). So a potentially bad stay ended up good. All's well that ends well.

Good Price for Clean Hotel near JFK
Recent world traveler Aug 18, 2009
This was a good choice for a hotel near JFK. We just needed a place to catch a few hours of sleep after flying in from ... Europe before an early morning flight back to California. After reading negative reviews of other hotels near the airport we were very pleased with our room at the Hampton. The complimentary shuttle to and from the airport was easy to deal with and prompt.

The staff were very friendly and accomodating. Rooms were clean, nice. Bedspreads lumpy, but still clean. I would ... recommend it!! Breakfast was fine, no eggs, bacon etc. but good for "continental".

Brief stay at JFK Hampton Inn
Pat Jul 15, 2009
Bed was nice and comfortable, but comforter should be replaced as it was lumpy from too many washings and the filling had ... shifted. Service personnel were super and courteous. Shuttle drivers was also super and courteous. For my brief one-night visit, it wasn't really long enough for a proper review. I like Hampton Inns and would stay again. However, the Le-Bistro restaurant (attached to the other hotel and utilized by Hampton Inn), didn't have enough selections on the menu and needs more choices.

We stopped at this hotel after a two week trip to Europe. We felt like we were in a palace. I had mistakenly booked a queen ... smoking, when I really needed two nonsmoking beds. No problem. The room was large, the beds were comfy and clean, the bathroom was good. With the efficient shuttle to and from the airport, we were able to catch a fast bus to downtown for some sight seeing adventure without any trouble and relatively little expense. I would definitely stay here again.

Gail Jun 27, 2008
Our family of four returned from a Mediterranean Cruise and stayed at Hampton JFK for one night on our way back home to ... Hawaii. We had 2 very nice queen beds and the room was spacious enough. The hotel is connected to Holiday Inn so there was a restaurant open until about 11 p.m. so we grabbed a bite to eat there before your daughters arrived on another airline flight from London. The complimentary breakfast the next morning was great and filling. This hotel was better:clean, newer, well maintained than the one we stayed in Manhattan, which was around the corner from 5th Avenue and the Empire State Building. We were very pleased staying in Jamaica, New York. We needed to go one level up from baggage claim, take the sky train, and get off at Federal Way where the hotel shuttle picks you up. It was very convenient although there was a little wait - we may have just missed the prior shuttle. Even the next morning it was easy to get back to JFK for our flight home.

Great for weary travelers...
Ann Jun 23, 2008
We had a flight delay that resulted in an unexpected stay at this Hampton Inn. We arrived exhausted and starving, but this ... hotel was a welcome oasis. There is two restaurants (one of which was open and booming at 9:30 on that Sunday night)...and an ATM. I was much more impressed with the overall appearance of the Hampton, though very grateful for the restaurant at the other. In our brief time at the Hampton, the staff was polite, the room spotless, the bed comfortable, the continental breakfast good, and the airport shuttle efficient. Our stress just melted away when we realized that all of our needs could be accommodated under one roof that night.

JFK Airport is across the freeway, and the hotel sits in a residential area. The closest recreational feature is Aquaduct Racetrack (2.5 miles) and Howard beach (10 miles).
