Good stay near airport

We were only there for a brief overnight and early morning pick-up at JFK. The front desk man was very helpful. The ... continental breakfast was well-stocked with bagels, donuts, cereal, beverages, etc. I would definitely recommend for someone who needs to be close to the airport.

Fantastic Hotel

This was a great little hotel in Queens. Room was a little small, but all we needed was a place to sleep. Staff was great, ... good breakfast every morning. Area might be intimidating to some people but we never felt uncomfortable at any point. Also a great point is that it is one block on the E line that goes to manhattan and world trade center. Only about 15 minutes from JFK via airtrain and subway. Also several fast food places within walking distance.

Our 4 people went to NY for a trip and lived this hotel for 2 days. The best of this hotel is good location where is 2min ... walk from the metro station by which you can go any attractions in NY. Besides, it has good bed, good bathroom and good TV set. The only weak point is small bedroom.

Good hotel, poor location

The hotel itself was good. The location was OK for me, but I would not recommend the same place if my girlfriend were with ... me. She'd have been uncomfortable walking outside the hotel. When I made the reservation, the quality of the location was not clearly conveyed. Would recommend only to friends that might be comfortable with the location.

Perfect for it's purpose

We stayed at the hotel for a night before picking up a relative early morning from JFK the next day. The room was clean and ... we arrived at 1230AM and someone was there to check us in. The room was very clean and renovated. The bed was comfortable with clean new linens. It was pretty quiet except for a little street noise. The AC didn't work too well. Overall a good hotel for a night stay as it's close to JFK. The neighborhood didn't seem like anything you'd want to walk around in.

Great JFK location and near subway to Manhattan.My room was very clean and had everything I needed to visit the city of New ... York. The staff was friendly and the diverse area was great for eating out and people watching. Although it was a 45 minute ride to Manhattan it is easy to get there and a great value for the area.

We had a family emergency, so we drove to NYC from North Carolina for almost ten hours. When we got to the hotel all we ... wanted is a nice welcome and a clean and comfortable room. We had to wait to check in and the room was really small and not too clean.

Great budget option but not 100% sure about location

It's clear that the management is trying very hard to give you a great hotel experience. The rooms compare well with any ... business hotel that I've stayed at -- the interiors are brand new, the carpets flush, the bathrooms spotless. There's also new furniture, flat-panel TV's, granite countertops in the bathroom, and free Wifi. Yet the location remains a big question for me. It's perfect if you have an overnight JFK layover, as I did. For a New York getaway, however, my recommendation is a little more reserved. Plan to be back before dark (or learn to run fast), since the 5-minute walk to the subway station is a little sketchy.

My review of Clarion Hotel Jamaica

I would recommend if in Queens on business or to take a next day flight from JFK or LaGuardia. Hotel was new so room and ... bathroom was clean. Neighborhood not great, with no restaurants in walking distance. Only several parking spaces on site; otherwise, you must find a space in a seedy neighborhood. I was not made aware of a business center or fitness room by staff. Front desk staff was friendly.

Parking was very limited. One night I ended up having to park on the street away from the hotel. And, given the rough ... neighborhood this wasn't very comforting. I'd never have a woman stay at the hotel w/o male accompaniment. Also, the breakfast was under the standards.
