close to JFK

We booked this hotel for its location (close to JFK with a free shuttle) as we flew in from Atlanta in the afternoon prior to ... flying out frpm JFK the next day. We were a little disappointed there was nowhere nice to walk and the lack of nearby dining. Our room was below the street level right where the on the hour (24 hours a day) shuttle pulled up and reversed (Beep Beep Beep) out.

The main purpose of the trip was to send my daughter off for a semester abroad. The shuttle to the airport was such a ... convenience. We had breakfast together(included)and took the shuttle. It made life so much easier. No need for directions or parking lots. When I returned to the hotel via the shuttle the staff was helpful. Even though the room was small, I would definitely stay there for additional travel plans that include flying from JFK airport.

I was our second visit to BW Jamaica. It's location, close to JFK airport proved convenient to our needs. We had problems ... with other noisy, disrespectful guests that didn't get addressed till the next day when the manager gave us a $50 dollar travel card. We will go back to BW Jamaica because it is cost effective for us. We will make sure to take ear plugs along and not to stay close to the vending machines.

JFK airport hotels are not the greatest

Driving up to this place, I knew I was in trouble: a tired, not-nice-to-begin-with-even-when-it-was-new little property in ... the midst of a hardcore industrial area. While, for what it is, it was clean and the front desk staff was exemplary. NO food at all in the hotel, so if you're arriving after midnight like me and hoping to eat, no chance.

I chose it because it had recently been renovated and I assumed that it would be a good experience. It was an overnight ... business trip and I regret that decision. My room key had to be reset twice. My newly-renovated jet tub had grotesque stains in it. The elevators took approx 5 minutes to go up 2 floors (5 MINUTES - no exaggeration). I would have completely avoided the elevator and gone up the steps but they didn't look safe. AVOID THIS HOTEL EVEN IF YOU HAVE MEDIOCRE STANDARDS.

I read the reviews of prior visitors to this hotel and knew what to expect. I wanted a clean, relatively inexpensive, ... friendly staff sort of place and not a resort and that's exactly what I got. The breakfast was well stocked as continental breakfasts go, and the room was clean with a comfortable bed. It served my purpose of being a nice place to sleep, have breakfast and go.
