Nice stay

The room was nice. The beds could have been firmer, the battery in the door lock was dead. But the staff was very nice and the restaurant and location was fabulous.

Passable, but just

I wasn't looking for much out of a 2 star hotel, but this could have been much better, even for basics. It was clean enough, but very shabby. The bathroom could have used a real scrub down. It was a non smoking room, but smelled like it wasn't always. The carpet felt grimy, the sheets were rough and scratchy, and we had to ask that our running water be turned on in the AM. (It was taken care of promptly.) No internet in the room. Location is great though, and if you need no more than a place to pass out, it will work. I would only stay there if there are no other options, and though it was the cheapest option we found locally, it seemed really pricey for what we got. I'd rather pay a little bit more and be even marginally more comfortable.

One Night Stay

OK for one night stay. Clean but old. Needs updating and a little TLC. Room floor was very tilted. Great because across the street from Wegman's and very good location for wine tours. Convenient.

Would not stay again. (service/security)

Having been across the country twice on a budget, I've stayed at some crummy places. This may have been my least favorite. The room did not have a fridge/microwave as I expected from my booking info. The bathroom was incredibly dingy. The outlets and air conditioner seemed to be ancient. The room was clean, which I appreciated. My real issues were with service and security. The woman at the front desk made us stand there and wait both times we went there for help, as she was watching television in the next room. She did not welcome us or even say so much as "thanks." I had booked online, and upon check-in she didn't even ask for ID or the card we paid with. Anyone could have walked in there with my last name and had a paid room. The wifi didn't work at all, not even once. The woman at the desk was terrifically unhelpful and very irritated to have to speak with us. On our third day, our key cards ceased to function. Thankfully, Jeff was at the front desk that day. He was very friendly and helpful. It was such a relief to talk to someone besides the other woman. The last day of our stay, two of the housekeeping women had a very loud fight outside of the rooms on the upper floor. It was very unprofessional. Our front door, which led directly to the parking lot, did not seem secure at all (could see sunlight all around the edge) and didn't even have so much as a peephole or a chain. There are several tenants who appear to be living at the inn. They sat outside the rooms all day, every day, drinking Natty Ice and staring at us as we went from our car to the door. Very unsettling. The location was decent (short drive to downtown, parks, etc) and Ithaca is an absolutely incredible place. But I wouldn't stay here again unless I had no other options, and I certainly wouldn't have felt comfortable staying here with children.

Affordable, clean, convenient - all the basics

Definitely a spot to remember - nice affordable place to stay downtown. Nothing fancy but has all the basics. Rooms were clean and comfy and check-in/out was simple. My only complaint was the low internet quality...the router was barely functional.

Glad it was only for a night

I booked this while my daughter and I were checking out Ithaca College. Our flight was cancelled, so we arrived a day late - thank goodness! It meant we only had to stay there for a night. The MCI looked like a set for a crime show - am surprised there wasn't a chalk outline of a body outside our door! Our room was small, basically clean, but of a really low standard. One star is pushing it - and I wouldn't rate it two! The receptionist was not exactly chatty, but at least he changed us to a ground level room, so we didn't have to haul our cases upstairs. Breakfast provided was very basic ... On the upside, it was an easy 15-minute walk into 'town' through residential neighbourhoods, where it was fun looking at the old Victorian homes (many of which seemed to be in need of paint, if not new piling!). Thankfully, my daughter isn't going to college here ...
