Spacious room, comfortable bed.

Above adequate to stay a night or two. The linens, pillows and the bed were very comfortable and clean. the bathroom could have used an update (rusty showerhead and mismatched shower tiles). I gave four stars for the bed and thicker towels. the pool could be slightly warmer also.

Good room, sketchy parking lot

From the outside it doesn't look too nice, parking lot was all broken up with lots of truck trailers parked next door and am adjacent power station. Room was very clean and quiet and comfortable. Definitely a place I would stay again (but would not have chosen based on the looks from the outside).

Clarion Hotel in Ithaca New York

I was going to see the Dead at the Cornell University in Ithaca. The location was perfect! It took us 5 minutes to get there and the local stores were 2 minutes walking distance from the hotel which was awesome. The beds were comfy, the shower was nice and clean and the shower head had lots of choices, massage, rainshower, ect. It was very relaxing. The front desk people were very nice, they didnt mind when I needed to check out late bc my boyfriend was sick. I liked the hotel very much.

Not a bad hotel

I was a little concerned as I pulled up to the hotel. It looks as though it is going out of business. The hotel is a white facade with not a whole lot else. As I walked through the lobby,I thought that maybe this would be OK. The staff were very friendly. The room was clean, the bathroom needed some updating. All in all it was an OK stay. I probably wouldn't stay there if there was something else available for the approximate price. The parking lot had craters and hard to maneuver around.

Hotel fine, internet booking policy ugh!

Despite request for nonsmoking room, at check-in Sunday afternoon I was assigned a smoking room in a smoking corridor. Agent at desk denied the room was designated smoking, despite sticker on door and reek of smoke! Hotel was nearly empty when I checked in (almost empty parking lot) and a nonsmoking room was substituted at my request. However, the desk agent told me that because I used the internet/an agency to book the room I was automatically assigned the least desirable smoking room! Apparently they resent folk not using their own website to book in. Agent at desk next morning was much more pleasant and helpful.

You get what you pay for!!

The view from our room was that of a small power station with towers and grid lines running all across. The parking lot was very weird and in a 20 min rain pour it got flooded due to too many pot holes. But the only thing we were happy about was it was cheap and had all the amenities like fridge, ironing board, cable, coffee maker, good clean bathroom and bed sheets. The only thing that kills it is the location and cosmetic appearance of the hotel. But definitely worth it if you just need a place to sleep and take a shower and get out to the town or lake.

Comfortable beds but in need of upgrades

The location was good but we just about bent an axle driving through the potholes in the parking lot. It looked old and in bad need of renovation. There is no hot breakfast there, you have to drive about a half mile to the Ramada for the "free breakfast," which was delicious. Found out the Ramada would have been the same price and has been redone recently. Stay there, instead.

Adequate, but has room for improvement

Hotel has a nice pool and quaintly decorated reception/dinning areas. However, the guestrooms and guest services left alot to be desired. Guestrooms corridor smelled of cig smoke. Guestroom itself is nicely sized, but essential element were missing. Sliding window curtains left a 1" gap in the middle, with no shears or blackout shades. I know Ithaca is almost always cloudy, but we were woken up by the sun shining right in our eyes. Bathroom had no exhaust fan (which would've prevented cig smoke from going into the hallway to begin with). Bathroom tiles are slippery when wet, does not conform with the 0.6 wCOF industry standard. Wall thermostat does not work, PTAC must be manually operated (not a big deal, but should've removed the vestigial wall stat so guests aren't fiddling with it, thinking that it works). At check-in, desk clerk handed us a slip of paper, telling us that all information and hours are on it. The paper said to ask the front desk clerk for all information. We asked the clerk about breakfast hours and costs, and she said to check with the wait staff in the morning. The clerk was not busy with guests, it was midnight and nobody else was around. At check-in and check-out, the clerk asked for my credit card, and I had to tell them it was prepaid. The food at the breakfast buffet was decent, but the wait services was lacking. Our plates were not cleared once during our meal. Despite having only 11 items to choose from, the staff had to be asked by the patrons to refill the pitchers, baskets, etc before anything was done. There were only 12 diners at any given time, so the 2 staff members chatting at the empty table was not overwhelmed.

Time-saving tip: Short drive from hotel

5 minute drive to Cornell's North campus, and easy access to Rt.13 (downtown Ithaca in one direction, Dryden/Cortland in the other). Walking distance to a strip mall for necessities.

Thanksgiving Stay

My family was just spending the night during the Thanksgiving Holiday. We chose this hotel as it was close and they accommodated pets. We checked it w/a late arrival. The person at the desk barely greeted us, gave us no info about the hotel, etc. He just told us to drive around back to the proper entrance. The hotel smelled a little funky, however, our room was clean. However, it was ice cold in our room. When we got into bed, there was just one very thin blanket on the bed. As we were tired and cold, we did not bother to call for anything as we didn't want to get out of bed! I would never consider this an upscale hotel.

Clarion Hotel

The Clarion had a convenient location for us. The mattress was very comfortable, there was plenty of hot water and clean towels. The decor was dated, but the room was clean and the staff was very friendly.
