Flushing Ymca Hotel, NY

for the $95.00 we paid I will not recommend this place unless you just want it for one night, rooms carpets are dirty and just a couple of beds, bathroom was in the 4th floor and my room was in the 5th floor, no privacy at all. Air Condition is window A/C unit. It is located inside the YMCA so you will see many people using their facilities, Saunas, gyms, etc

Affordable guest rooms

First of all, you have to remember that it is not hotel, it is guest rooms. That is why you will share bathrooms, there is one for men and one for women on the floor. What I liked was that it is cheap and located close to LaGuardia airport. Subway is 3-4 blocks away, the train 7 goes to Times Square. However, if you are traveling with children, this is not the best place - it is not very clean, no bathrooms, no space... Those, who like oriental food will like it - YMCA is located in Korean or Chinese district.

You get what you pay for

The Flushing YMCA hotel is located in Korean or Chinese area. It occupies few floors of the building. There is an elevator that can be used. Men and women toilettes are located on the 5th and 4th floors respectively, so being together with your lady may bring some discomfort as one of you will need to go to another floor. The toilettes are quite clean but without any luxury attributes: just a few sinks and a couple of toilette-basins. In the room there was a bed for two persons, a small bookcase with a TV-set and an empty refrigerator. There was no wardrobe and we had to put the clothes on the top of the bookcase. There were a couple of soap pieces given to each of us and two towels. We attended the hotel in early autumn, the weather was warm. An air conditioner was installed in the window and operated quite well to cool the room air down. Unfortunately, we were not able to adjust the program (no buttons operated) and the conditioner operation was so loud, we were forced to switch it off to sleep. The room was relatively clean but I saw a couple of marks that cleaning activities took place long ago and perhaps not for us but for previous visitors. That is why I did not inspect linen carefully being afraid to find something awful. Fortunately, superficial inspection did not expose any bad signs. We spent just 6 hours in the hotel having registered late arrival and think for NYC the money we paid was sufficient for the services we got. But do not expect something more than a small room without shower and toilette.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Print a map from Google to see how to pass by foot to the hotel as Q13 buses that come right to the hotel from subway Flushing Main station go quite seldom (approx. every 30 minutes). The foot trip is only about 10 minutes (half a mile).
