Ugh - Don't Stay Here - One Star is Too Much

The reservation at this "resort" was for "Deluxe studio upper or lower deluxe studio upper or lower * 2 double beds * microwave and coffee maker"". They put us in a room with a king bed and the kitchenette unit that time forgot and apparently so did housekeeping. There were dirty plates in the dishwasher that "you aren't suppose to use" and when I went to the front desk to complain they moved me to a room that was worse in terms of layout and already had gift bags for wedding attendees on the coffee table. In fairness to them they also took 10% off my room charges but that's not the point. I said we would stay in the room we originally had which given the choice was preferable to the other one. And when we got back to that room, the manager and housekeeping were there and the head housekeeper said there was nothing in the dishwasher and that the room was clean. So I felt like they were accusing me of lying when in fact they had cleaned it up as soon as they were told about it so the manager wouldn't see it. The "updated" bathroom had visible dirt and dust along the top of the tile and the floor was dirty looking. No fans in the bathroom but there is a window that if you open it, allows people walking outside the room to see into it. The place is way overpriced for the amenities in the rooms. The ice machine is near the front desk so even that is inconvenient. Oh and when I asked if they had a plastic bag to line the ice bucket (like every other hotel in the world) they gave me a trash can liner. They don't start serving coffee until 8:00 AM and tell you to go across the street if you want it earlier. On checkout I asked for a receipt to make sure that the 10% refund had been done and was told in a surly manner "I'm not sure I can print it out". And on our return hiome we would not bring our clothes that were in our suitcases anyplace but the laundry room since the smell of the room permeates them. Unbelievable but true. There was one person at the front desk who checked us in that actually seemed to care whether we were satisfied and happy. Unfortunately I didn't get this little blonde's name but she was great. The manager seemed more embarrassed about the room cleanliness and upset with housekeeping than concerned with us. This property is managed by Dune Management Company. They would be better-served to pay attention to the quality of the property and details of a guest's stay that make the difference between recommending the property to somebody or getting a review like this one. Just a very bad experience at an overpriced and bad hotel. Seems like they think they can charge the rates they do "because it's the Hamptons". Stay someplace else.

Excellent value/location/room-property conveniences

My husband and I were just in town for the night for a family funeral. We had shut down our home for the winter so couldn't stay at our own place. The East Hampton House was convenient to town and excellent value for the money.

Good Value in East Hampton

The Hotel is really a Motel. It is very well situated. You can walk to town in less than 10 minutes. East Hampton does not have any hotels mainly Bed and Breakfast which charge more than double the East Hampton House. The price difference makes this a special place. It is clean and safe.

Bostwicks is a local Seafood restaurant that is a 3 minute walk from the East Hampton House and is wonderful. It is the perfect Lobster and clam local no frills restaurant.

Comfortable stay

Very fair off season price, around 100.00 per night. Room was very spacious with lounge area. Kitchenett was a nice feature, minifridge, microwave and stove, also included dishes, cups and utensils. Close to beaches and East Hampton shops. Half hour drive to Montouk Point No complaints

Very nice suite

The suite we booked is spacious, well-decorated and very clean. The staff is very friendly, too. We saw the most beautiful starry sky ever during our stay!

Overnight Oasis

We just stayed one night while traveling. East Hampton House is very well located near town, very efficient and comfortable. Off season, we obtained a 1 BR suite with kitchenette for $99 with a 1st floor garden view, two TVs - all very nice and clean. At first, we were shown just a 1 BR on the second floor but, then I asked to see the next price up, and I was shown the suite we stayed in - both were the same price! They showed us the smaller, less convenient room first, and then when I asked - they showed us the other better room - for the same price. I was amazed. Always ask to see another room, so you can compare and make the best choice. Don't accept what that show you first. Both were the same price - I can't believe it!!!

Good Value for Amazing Location

This was our first visit to East Hampton. The hotel is essentially a motor hotel but it is clean and the location is great. The grounds are pretty too. The parking pass was a must to visit the beaches. And oh, the beaches, beautiful! The staff was so-so. They could have been more forthcoming with information about the city. If they rent out bikes in the future, I would make this hotel my EH go-to. Great for families. So-so for couples.

Shopping tip: Short drive from hotel

Parking on the street in East Hampton is one hour only. There is a parking lot behind the shops that has a two hour window. Don't be late.
