We booked this hotel online 5 months previous to our visit. When we got there, we were told that they only had a "privacy" cabin left (instead of the room I saw online and booked). We were told this was an upgrade and we were not going to be
charged extra for it. There were picture frames on the bed when we got there. The "upgrade" was dirty, with a dirty stained rug that left our socks black. It wasn't dusted or vacuumed. There were spider webs. It smelled old and musty. The bathroom was very tiny; only one skinny person could fit in it. The shower was made for a very skinny person. The TV was in the "living room" so we couldn't relax and watch TV. The TV was very small. We had to move the couch so we could see it. The couch was filthy (I had to put a blanket down to sit on it) and it was the most uncomfortable couch I'd ever had the displeasure to sit on. No coffee, we had to go find some. A disgusting coffee maker and stove/sink combination. No iron, no iron board. . I think the room I saw online should have been reserved for me because I booked 5 months earlier. I will never stay there again.
My girlfriend and I were looking for a nice outdoorsy weekend getaway from the city. We decided to head up near Kaaterskill Falls and stay at the Catskill Mt. Lodge. It was a great decision. There is so much to see and do in the area and this is a
great location for that. The owner, Al, is extremely nice and knowledgeable. He helped direct us to sites and gave us ideas on things to see and do and places to eat. The on-site restaurant is delicious as well. One of the best waffles I've ever had actually. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is not going to be spending a lot of time in the room and wants a nice, clean, and conveniently located base to explore the area.
