Great hotel in park slope
The king size bed and room were clean and new. I got a non smoking room and it didn't smell at all like some hotels do. I would stay again.

Great Deal! Awesome Experience!
In NYC for a business trip. Arrived in Brooklyn much earlier than planned (7:30 am) and the staff at this hotel allowed us to check in at around 8am. The staff was wonderful in helping navigate around town, whether it be shopping centers, food or even directions to downtown. This service and location of the hotel was far better than I had anticipated.

Shopping tip:
Short walk from hotel
Only a few blocks from the hotel is some great shopping. Vintage stores, boutiques and a shopping center less than a 10 minute walk away; great location.

Convenient location but.......
Although we had confirmation for a non-smoking room with a king sized bed, all that was available was a smoking room with two double beds - a fact that they blamed on Orbitz. Union Steet is noisy and our room, being located next to the stairway, was assaulted with the slamming of the stairway door at all hours. Twice we were unable to use our key and had to go back to the desk to have it reprogrammed. The remote worked only if we had it very close to the TV Easy walk to many good restaurants and shopping, a peaceful community garden and public transportation. It suited our needs for a quick visit but I wouldn't go out of my way to stay there again.

Mexican restaurant at the corner of Union and 4th was excellent, as was the little Greek diner on the opposite corner, just half a block from the hotel.

Good Hotel, Decent Neighborhood
A very good hotel. It's in Park Slope Brooklyn, so don't expect mid-town Manhattan ambiance. For those concerned about safety, just dress and act like a local... Comments about the elevator are true. Just give yourself about 5 more min to wait. Being close the the subway is excellent! After a 3 min walk from the hotel, you can go anywhere in the city. Parking is behind the hotel in a private, unguarded, lot. Use common sense; don't leave anything in the car that would attract attention...

Nice hotel in a crummy location
This hotel is located in a pretty crummy part of Brooklyn. The price was decent, but the location left A LOT to be desired. I requested a room with one king size bed, but ended up with a room with two doubles. Not what I wanted. My room was right next to the door to the stairwell. It slammed shut repeatedly throughout the day and night, and was really unpleasant. The desk in the room did not have a chair. I requested one, but never got one. Most of the housekeeping staff was pleasant, but one particular woman - African American - was extremely rude. When I left, I chose not to tip her at all. She didn't deserve it. The complimentary breakfast was okay, but they repeatedly ran out of things - yogurt, cinnamon rolls, scrambled eggs.

Short walk from hotel
The hotel was VERY close to the subway, which made it very convenient. However, you have to walk through a fairly bad neighborhood in order to get to the subway. Late at night (returning from Manhattan) was a bit scary.

Free Breakfast!!!!
I was pleasantly surprised at how well this hotel was run. The staff were friendly, they served a great breakfast for free and spoke perfect English. The only downside is that there is only one elevator for the 9+ floors in this building and you can be standing there waiting for a couple minutes.

Book this hotel and take the subway wherever you want to go. The "R" train nearby will take you all the way to Times Square in Manhatten!

a place to put our heads.....
We just needed a place to sleep for an overnight in Brooklyn... it filled the bill! We've stayed here before - it's reliable and has the coffee in the room and the room is clean and that's important!
