BEST WESTERN PLUS Brooklyn Bay Hotel

Horrible stuff, from front desk clerk who was unable to answer any question to the only manager! Hotel just opened after the hurricane and is not ready yet to welcome guest (intermittent electrical/heat service and smell in the rooms). My flight was delayed till 4 pm and I’ve asked for a late check-out but was refused because hotel was booked through web site with 20% discount. He said that if hotel is booked directly they might consider but since it’s booked through discount web site they can’t extend a stay for few hours longer. Despite the fact that I previously stayed at the hotel and we are the corporate clients he forced me to leave straight away. He made the thing escalate to big proportions with the purpose to evict me with no options left. For me it was ok to leave but of course neither I nor my coworkers will ever stay there. The hotel manager said that he was “in a win situation “screaming on the phone and threatening with the police eviction. And all of it for an extra 3 hours that I was willing to pay for but not moving to another room. He fabricated stories of upcoming wedding (Monday) and that he needs that specific room while hotel was empty. Bottom line – the most unpleasant experience of all hotels stays ever.

You get what you paid for. The staff is average. Everything is about average. The location is great.

Hotelwas fine-: friendly staff, decent comfort, sufficient amenities, and good breakfast. I requested a non-smoking rtoom but was switched at the last minute to smoking. The hotel was full so I suffered migraines the entire stay. The hotel blames the travel agent and I'm inclined to agree. Very disappointing.

The staff was friendy and helpful. The parking was a plus. And the Area was safe and close to many attractions in Brooklyn. The bed was a little lumpy and they dont have flat screen televisions but it was definately better than expected.

The staff was very nice and the room was clean and very comfortable. Had parking, albeit a bit cramped, but in NY that's what you'd expect. No complaints here. Would stay again when in the area.

To start Mohammad was a lot of help, he went out of his way to help me; from storing my bags before check-into helping find a place to eat and another place to eat when I wanted a snack later. He was very friendly which is a lot considering he was there all day. He also gave me direction to the New York Aquarium so that I could walk there from the hotel. The hotel is located in what I would call a safe area. There are a lot of resturaunts right near the hotel. I would definately go back to this hotel. It would be the first place I would look.

The management was awesome and helped solve all the problems that were a result of booking this hotel through Orbitz.

We came here to attend the viewing and funeral of my mother in law and got two rooms. The hotel did not honor our no smoking request, gave us two room in the basement where the smell was bad, we had a concrete wall outside our windows, no space to walk between the beds and furniture, a perfect round hole in the ceiling that we think could have been a camera in one of the rooms (the hotel denies it), and a ridiculous excuse for a parking lot which meant we had to park several blocks away at night. We asked to have our rooms changed, and even though we had prepaid for the rooms upon booking (a hotel requirement) and arrived early, we were told that they were "overbooked" and our rooms could not be changed. I have never complained about a room before, but this was a completely unacceptable experience. If I have to stay in a hotel in this area again, I will drive half an hour but will never stay here again, nor will I trust a Best Western hotel to provide what it advertises.

When we checked in, we have learned that our request for non-smoking was totally ignored. [...]After we have explained that it is essential to be moved to the non-smoking room , the clerk told us that this smoking room is "better anyway, since all other rooms are not that clean". I have asthma and it was a very disturbing night I've spend at Best Western. The next day we were told that the non-smoking room is available but have only one bed. We have pointed out that we are family of three. We were informed that roll away bed is available but it actually could not be fitted into the room. Only after the threat to call American Express and stop the charges we were transferred to a non-smoking room.

Rooms were clean. Staff was friendly and helpful.
