Expensive Resort on Lake George

This is an older resort with a beautiful location. However, the lowest level Lodge rooms that face the parking lot, look at a berm of earth so it felt like we were in a cave. The hand lotion seemed to be half used, so perhaps the cleaning staff decided to leave that in the bathroom instead of giving us a new bottle. The light bulb in the light on the desk was burned out. We asked for late check out, since we did not even arrive until 9 PM, but we were told we had to be out by 11 AM, although the reservation sheet said check out was at noon. I feel the room was overpriced since it had absolutely no view. The resort could plant flowers on the earthen berm. The Nature Trail is overgrown, but the view of Lake George is great. However, I've been to less expensive places on Lake George which also have great views. The food for all meals is very pricey even though the breakfast buffet was average. Some guests wore baseball caps at breakfast which seems out of character for this resort.

Okay for fall

We heard this resort was great during the winter, but came just the fall change of seasons. It was absolutely beautiful and we had a fabulous time, but still thought it was overpriced for the dingy lodge rooms. Should have upgraded to the hotel itself.

Beautiful hotel and location

The hotel was beautiful and the location overlooking the lake was amazing. We had an amazing breakfast on the veranda. The infinity pool was picture perfect. Although expensive, it was a wonderful experience.

Very expensive, rooms very out-dated. There for a wedding. Beautiful atmosphere. Rehersal dinner in hall at hotel--uncomfortable because of broken air conditioning.

Sagamore

The Sagamore is a beautiful and well maintained facility. The restaurants on site are quite good and the accommodations are comfortable. The pool, lake and facilities are grade A....I wish I knew (I'm sure it was buried somewhere) that I was also going to be charged a $25 per day resort fee...but the fact that I received an upgrade to a suite was greatly appreciated since in traveling with my 2 year old easier.

Sightseeing tip: In Hotel

Take the free boat trip on the lake the hotel provides and enjoy a stellar view, a drink and perhaps a wrap.....also, if you want reservations on a Saturday night for a particular on site restaurant....make them early (not that there aren't no reservation alternatives)

Short Stay

The lodge rooms were a bit of a distance from the main hotel but walkable. The bathroom was a bit small but clean. There were several restaurants but a menu available in the room would have been helpful. Information in room about boat rentals would have helped too. Overall this was a good visit.

Georgeous setting

Bring your camera to capture the picturesque setting. Rooms in the lodge are dark and small but adequate. I followed a fellow traveler's advice and requested a lodge room close to the hotel. Some lodge rooms are a five min walk.Good coffee and b'fast at Bolton Beans. Hotel food mediocre. Also our room was not ready until 4:30. Definately book the free Morgan Cruise
