Howard Johnson Binghamton

We nedded a place to escape a hurricane and this place was a good hotel for the money. For a small fee $15 a day,we were able to bring our cat and dog. the breakfast was basic but good. the lobby is dated but clean and a warm friendly place to hang out. The stafff was helpful and friendly.

I was there for the American Legion Convention. The air conditioner did not cool the room, I found trash in the dresser drawer, I found the TV remote under the bed. It was quiet.

I am a pretty low-key traveler, but this hotel was awful. It was not clean, the sink was backed up, and in general it was just a creepy place. I was looking to save a few bucks and it was totally not worth it.

We stayed at the hotel while we had some work done on our bathroom. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The only negatives were no coffee pot in the room and horrible pillows. Did like the microwave & refrigerator though. Bathroom was nice except for the drain in the center of the room which threw you off balance if you stepped on it.

Staff was friendly and helpful. A little noisy because it is adjacent to the highway but even that was wasn't bad. All in all a good experience.

This was just a stop over point en route to New York. The hotel was conveniently located close to the highway...however with that comes a lot of noise. The room was large and clean, and seemed to have been recently renovated. Staff was very friendly. For the price you can't go wrong. However I wouldn't have stayed more than one night.

This hotel in particular, I don't know if all the Howard Johnson hotels are the same, failed to deliver the services we paid for. We had requested a non-smoking room. After checking in, walked into the room to be exposed to a very strong smoke odor. Requested a change of room and were denied one. No way we were going to spend the night in that health hazard of a room. Left the hotel and found a real "non-smooking" room at a nearby hotel. Howard Johnson has repeatedly denied our request for a refund. We'll never stay at another HJ hotel. This practice of ripping off your guests is not a good one for business. You hear Howard Corporate Management? One star is too many for this hotel rating.

After checking in, we went to what was supposed to be a non-smoking room. As soon as we opened the door, all of us detected a strong smoke odor. Opened all windows since we could barely breath and immmediately called the reception counter, told the clerk the room reeked of cigarette smoke, that we had requested a non-smoking room. She said that room was a non-smoking one. We went to the reception area and requested a change to a non-smoking room. Was told there were none available(yet there were plenty of people checking in). Were lucky to find one at a different hotel, for a lot higher price since we had no previous reservation, but it was worth the price we paid for a clean, smoke free room. What a difference between the two rooms. There was no way we would've been able to spend more than 15 minutes in that room. Our health is more precious than the price of the two rooms we paid that night. If all the Howard Johnson hotels are like this one, they'll be out of business soon. They came close to turning a joyous family weekend event into a nightmare. WILL NEVER STAY IN A HOWARD JOHNSON HOTEL, EVER.

Very friendly and helpful front desk personnel. The room was fine just a tad bit noisy due to the fact that it backs up against a busy highway. Next time I'll request a room on the other side of the hotel. Should be fine.
