Fantastic location, great price
This hotel is situated in the middle of the strip of bars, the only interesting location in the poor, flooded, economically depressed city of Binghamton, NY. If you're looking for a place to stay that's within easy walking distance of anything remotely interesting for a good price, look no further than the Grand Royale.

Horrible stay for me
The location was right in downtown, but they gave us a room facing the night club across the street. It was a Friday night when we stayed so the clubbing music had kept me a awake until 3-4 in the morning!! The bathroom fan made huge noises and there's was only one switch for both the bathroom light and the fan, so we had to go to the bathroom in the dark trying not to wake the baby up with the noises. Breakfast was good.

Great atmosphere, comfortable,
Stayed in Binghamton before going to Watkins Glen International to race my Honda Civic 2007 Vtech engine with an alumni chapter. That night slept well. The lobby, the exercise room, the breakfast and the event room in the hotel are all gorgeous!!!Some renovations going on...a bit too much furniture in my single room. Excellent bed and the cylindrical cushion was great for my back when laying down on the side. Great place to wake up to!

Overall, a real disappointment
Overall my stay at this hotel was a disappointment. Although the building itself was older and interesting, my actual room on the 6th (top) floor was not in good shape. The bathroom had been recently renovated, so that was fine. But the room itself? Extremely old and stained carpet, ancient television, and worst of all, the wallpaper on one wall was completely peeling and falling down. Unacceptable. I would not stay again.

Graduation Weekend
The accomadations were fine, but the biggest problem was that I had 2 reservations & 1 was mysteriously missing. [...]placed the blame on the hotel & the hotel placed the blame on [...]. My family & I drove 5 hrs to this destination. What if we only had the 1 reservation?! We would have had no where to stay. No discount was given from either party. NOT A GOOD WAY TO DO BUSINESS!

Grand Royale Hotel
The Hotel was unbeatable as far as apparance, service, frienliness. As a Historical site it was absolutley beautiful. We enjoyed dinner at the Number 5 Restaurant. The only thing is that when we arrived home, I went online and it appears that had I booked the room through the hotel's web-site it would have been $9.00 cheaper.

Beautiful hotel, unusual location
Hotel was great, old city hall building. Sadly, the old entrance is no longer in use and has been replaced by a new construction which faces state street- the street that makes binghamton feel alive (with drunken college students). This was one of the reasons I, as an alumnus, chose the hotel and was very pleased. Whether or not you go for the bar scene, the room was incredibly quiet (I was excited to learn that my room was formerly the mayor's office!). I was very happy with the services provided, the room was pretty and clean and the breakfast spread was as good as continental breakfast can get. Also: great staff!!
