You Get What You Pay For
I stayed here for two nights over Thanksgiving break to see Phish at the Times Union Center. Obviously, we college kids are balling on a budget, so the Red Carpet Inn was naturally our first destination. For $54 bucks a night for a four-person room, I can't complain. If you are visiting Albany to see friends, or to party at U of Albany (which is right across the street) this place will do just fine. We had some issues with our door - our keys didn't work, and the hotel staff had to basically break into it. The place reeks of cigarette smoke, which didn't bother me, but would probably be bothersome to families and non-smokers. There's no amenities really besides cable TV and internet - the vending and soda machines were out of commission. The manager [...] is very nice and understanding. All in all an average experience.

Fine for the price...
I was only doing an overnight and for the price, the hotel was fine. The wi-fi connection was a little spotty at times, but it was mostly stable. I was a little disappointed because the official site promised a continental breakfast, but I was informed that the policy had changed and they no longer provided that particular service. I will say that the morning manager did at least offer me a free danish from the items that they had for sale in the lobby. All in all, I would use it again for the same purpose.

Good price for a fair room.
My fiance and I spent a weekend at the Red Carpet. We spent Friday night there, went to a day long concert Saturday and check out Sunday. The hotel was easy to find, but it was a little dumpy. For example there was a hole that had been patched in the ceiling, but had not been sanded or repainted. On the website it had said there was a refridgerator, but when we got the room it wasn't there. For the price it wasn't a bad deal, but it wasn't the best place I've stayed in. Also the wifi was a bit weak considering there was a router a couple of doors down.

Short drive from hotel
Heading South East from the Inn it is a short drive to Colvin Ave. That street will take you to Central Ave and there you will find a wide range of restaurants and stores.

Good for a cheap place to stay
I went to Albany with a friend for a concert so we were just trying to stay someplace cheap and close to the venue (Washington Avenue Armory). It was good for us college kids that have limited funds and like to have a good time. The room-service dominos was cool too.

I love the Price
I was in Albany for women's alumni basketball events. I have stayed at this inn several times. Room is comfortable if not spectacular, staff is friendly, price is great, and it's right across the street from the UAlbany campus.
