Sports fan/alumna

I was in town to watch women's basketball and enjoyed being directly across the street from the university. Front desk and housekeeping staff were friendly and helpful. The room was just right and if I were going to stay for a few days I would definitely try to reserve again.

Weekend Trip

I had a great experience at the hotel. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I had reserved a queen room but was given a double instead with the explanation that room types are not guaranteed through this site. However, the desk clerk was willing to move me into a queen room the next night if I wanted.

totally discussed

First got in room TV did not work was switched to a room that smelled of smoke (non smoking room) heat/air conditioner was very noisy when it started, first room had a recliner but this room only had a very uncomfortable chair the first night there was a group on the second floor that was very noisy and but what we heard they had the police there around 1 am, the someone up there pulled the fire alarm at 2:30 in the morning, making us have to evacuate the building for over 1 hour and I was unable to fall asleep again and the chair in the room was like sitting a stone wall, so to not disturb my wife I went to our car and sat in it for the night listening to the radio, at 8 am when we went off for the day, my wife asked if we could get a recliner in the room instead of the chair, she was told that it would not be a problem and they would take care of it. when my wife got back to the room around 12 noon still no recliner, at 1 pm she had to come pick me up and again on her way out asked the desk they said they would call house keeping about the recliner, we got back to the room at around 2pm I was totally exhausted and disgusted with the hotel that after a 1 hour nap we decided to just leave then and head home instead of stay another night in this horrible hotel, when I went to the desk to check out they asked why we were leaving the hotel, I told them that with the lack of quietness the night before we decided to just go home and be in our own home and bed in 3 and a half hour, the clerk asked what could do to make us want to stay there again, I said that I know we are choosing to leave a night early but with what went on the night before I thought that night should be com-pt , the clerk took my info and said would give it to the manager and they would call me the next day, well I did not here from them on Monday and I did not here from them on tuesday either, so it seams they are just going to blow it off and do not care about the people who stay at the hotel, I hope everyone who stayed at the hotel on saturday night gives them a horrible review, as I am here and will be also posting this on there web sit too, I am disappointed that your company would even do business with a hotel that does not care about there patrons! TOTALLY DISGUSTED

Rather pleased

I've been travelling many years for work in PSEG and this time was no different, stayed at countless hotels and I could gripe and bash away at some other nightmares I have stayed in but if you have nothing nice to say.. Right? In this instance I have no complaints with this hotel or staff. Jennifer at the front desk was a doll and always with a cheerful word in passing and Joe was on his game as well. Quick with a response and a smile. The rooms are updated and sorry folks I didn't take pictures... should have it was clean and maintained well. Where to begin though? Parking is/was ample with good lighting in a safe area; check in took under three minutes and friendly throughout; elevator was clean; hallways well lit with clean walls and carpet; door card keyed and solid; room #244; air conditioning was new and worked as it should; all appliances were actually newer and clean thankfully; the chest of drawers was clean; recliner clean; bathroom clean and hot water came up quickly; flat screen tv was nice but didn't use it much with a lap top on me; wireless has strong signal but then again my laptop is no slouch so satisfaction may vary for someone else. I was working nights and had no issues with any staff waking me that shouldn't nor disturbing individuals in neighbouring rooms. One lot over to grab some Dunkin, bang a right at the next intersection and I was on my way to work along the ThruWay. It was a very convenient location overall and I am pleased with the standards they have set for themselves. I may be returning to Albany by the end of next week and if so I will surely snap a few pictures to back my claims here. I spent two hours reading reviews before reserving the room and I am patting myself on the back every minute for choosing ESH Albany.

Just Ok for the price

We stayed at the hotel for the convienience of attending the NY Giants training camp as well as Saratoga Race Track. SUNY Albany is directly across the street. It was our second stay at the hotel. I think that next time I'm going to go somewhere else. The room's walls were a little beat up and the carpet had numerous stains. I must have forgotten but you don't get daily room service other then getting new towels (If requested). However the staff were very friendly. There are many other hotels along the same strip of Washington Ave to choose from. I think next time I'll spend a little more and and stay somewhere else. If you're not too picky about hotel rooms this hotel will suit you fine. The rooms have a refrigerator, stove, microwave, etc.,

Worst Hotel Experience Ever

At check in the receptionist could not even answer simple questions or give me directions to my room or where to park. The room was filthy. The bed looked like it had been slept in. The pillows were yellow and spotted and in addition to the dirty ;inenes I have never seen such a filthy mattress cover or blanket in a hotel. The carpets has large ares of stain and burn holes. The room had a strong, peculiar odor. I could not regulate the heat and the curtains would not draw completely closed. I asked for a second room which was just as bad. I went to the front desk and a different receptionist went and got me a NEW mattress cover and pillows and blanket and sheets and pillow cases that had been washed. Overall, this hotel was not remotely how it was described and I certainly would not even consider giving it a second try despite my frequent trips to Albany.
