Once was good enough for me.
When I was checking in the bellboy was to occupied at the counter talking to other staff and nobody was available to help us with our bags. Then I could not understand why such a big hotel with and a large checking counter would only have one window open to take confirm our reservation and provide me with the keys to my room. After a wait of about 15 minutes we were attended. No apology for our wait was given. He simply asked for my name and credit card and gave us the keys. I arrived to the room I was surprised to see that it was a nice size, after skiing all day it was nice to check in and relax in a comfortable room. To my disappointment, the men's shower was filthy there was what appeared to be a dried yellow stain of something on the shower floor. I simply closed the door to the men's bathroom and used the women's tub, which was a lot cleaner. After going out and having an enjoyable dinner and a nice day of skiing we retuned to our room to relax, at about 3 am we were awoken by what seemed to be a hotel manager banging on the door next to our room I believe room. The banging was so loud that I was awoken thinking that someone was banging on our door. Repeatedly she banged on the door yelling open up, open up, or I am going to have to go down and get someone to open up the door. I know you're in there. I could not sleep, this person a female began speaking to the person in the room right next to our door both speaking really loud. The conversation was about the tenant and his friend apparently had stolen a woman's purse in the casino. This went on for about an hour or so. All I could do was tell my wife that I was sorry for booking this hotel. I thought it would have been a nice to stay at a different place this time around to our trip to Tahoe. I was deeply disappointed and embarrassed for something that I had not anticipated. During checkout I turned in my keys and left wanting to say something, but as expected the desk clerk was to busy chatting with her friends. I don't think I will ever stay here again. Dirty Bathrooms, Excessive noise at 3:00am and at all hours of the night,non-customer service oriented individuals working at the desk. There are better deals to be found in Lake Tahoe at the rate this hotel charges.

The not-good the bad and the really ugly
I changed my 4-day Christmas getaway trip this week from Quebec City to Harrah's in Lake Tahoe. BAD IDEA!! Harrah's, the airport shuttle and Heavenly Ski package[...]were absolutley AWFUL!! A total nightmare! The hotel was overrun with rude, pushy tourists and screaming, out-of control children and teenagers (few of whom spoke English). My "luxury" room had not been upgraded in 20 years and smelled badly. The hotel looked run-down. The hotel service was absolutely terrible. Example: I asked a bellman to carry my ski equipment from the shuttle to the storage area. He replied "Gee, you can ski all day but you can't carry your own skis and poles to the storage area" (in a totally serious tone). I had been injured, but nevertheless, this attutude was pervasive, frequently encountered and totally unacceptable! Room service brought the wrong food orders. The employees acted like they did not want to be there. The management, on being informed of all this, did NOTHING to make it right (as in "comp" something). (I won't be back, obviously).Recommendations:(1) If you value quality and first-class accomodations, NEVER stay at a casino hotel (unless it's the Wynn/Encore in Vegas). ALWAYS stay at the best ski resort you can afford - preferably an adults-only Inn or timeshare if you are single.(2) Book ski lift tickets and equipment on a DAILY basis - NOT in a multi-day package [...]. If you get injured or are not having fun or the weather does not cooperate, you pay regardless! If you rent ski equipment, always book equipment at the ski lodge store at the base of the mountain[...]. And remember that you cannot leave equipment in rental lockers at the mountain base after the lifts close for the day.(3) If you are single and wish to have a more peaceful vacation and can't stand annoying, screaming kiddies and rude, discourteous young people, don't go somewhere where they congregate on winter breaks. Go adults-only!(4) Always check your airport shuttle service out. The schedules are NOT flexible and are almost always a bus - not a limo or small shuttle van. Pay a little extra and get better service and flexibility. When I asked our bus driver to please turn down the volume of his favorite music blasting on the intercomm radio because we could not hear one another, he replied (predictably), "Well, sure. One man's heaven is another man's hell, I guess." Gee, thanks buddy. We needed that attitude. (Then he had his hand out for a "tip" - yeah, right!).(5) [...] It's YOUR vacation - get what you want and deserve!Live & learn! Happy New Year, everyone!

Brenda's bad experience
Overpriced and poor customer service
I am very unhappy with this place! Our bathroom flooded, all our luggage got wet and the manager didn't seem to care...very poor customer service! After complaining a couple of times, he offered to "let us" use another room so we could take showers before checking out...after ruining our morning we just left. Besides that, over priced...even want you to pay for the instant coffee they leave in your "mini bar" fridge...slots are so tight...save your money! Every other place we stayed on our vacation was so much nicer and customer friendly!

Very Disappointed
I am usually not a negative person, nor do I make complaints about companies, unless I am very disappointed. When we arrived the receptionist was not very friendly. Very short and we felt like she had better things to do. That wasn't too big of a deal. When we checked into our room, the furniture was very outdated and the couch and bedskirt were stained. The windows were dirty and we had a view of the rooftop. The television looked like a late 90's sharp TV. We didn't expect an elegant room, but this is a casino, that you know makes money, and I was surprised they had rooms of this stature. Another odd thing was that the room had two bathrooms, right next to eachother. Thank goodness it two bathrooms because one toilet did not flush. I couldn't find a hair dryer and the bathroom floors had hair on them. I would not recommend staying here. If you are on a budget, The Holiday Inn down the street looked nicer than this hotel.

Lumpy
The king sized bed was hard as a rock, and lumpy. The pillows were even worse. Most hotels don't charge you for in room coffee, Harrahas charges six dollars. The view was of a roof, that sucked when you pay $159.There could of been an extra blanket,it was cold, but there wasn't.I did have a good time, but did not sleep well.

nothing to do beside gambling,boring.
Front desk people unprofesional and rude. They don't care about what you've requested or want. Especially if you've booked it through or any other company. Elizabeth (front desk) told me " take it or leave it".

Smoke, Smoke, Smoke
Everything was just OK but the smoke in the hotel ensured me that I never want to stay here again. Guests smoked everywhere regardless of the no smoking signs and no enforcement. Guests smoked in the corridors, in the swimming pool, and in the elevator vestibule where signs clearly state 'NO SMOKING.' My brother smokes and my state of Virginia allows smoking in restaurants so I'm used to a little smoke. However, after a great day of skiing, the last thing you want to do is walk through 200 ft of bright gambling lights and a thick cloud of smoke, especially if you have kids. DONT STAY HERE IF YOU HAVE KIDS.

Sightseeing tip:
Short walk from hotel
The Gondola is about 2 avenue blocks, 3 if you count the smokey hotel casino. Ski lockers near the Gondolas are $10 per use but with kids, it was well worth it.

I would try a different hotel....
Harrah's is well located in the town-convenient for walking to other casinos. The room itself was nice and large but the mattress was saggy and lumpy and our view was the roof covered with trash and cigarette butts. The staff was friendly but didn't follow through on requests such as bringing bottled water which normally, two are given in the room and we ended up buying a bottle from the mini bar which was pricey. The only other option was to walk down to the super market, three blocks away and we needed something to drink as we had just gotten there from a long drive into Tahoe. Also our toilet had not been "completely" properly cleaned; the rest of the room was nice. I would try a different hotel because when my husband asked to speak with a manager, he didn't seem at all concerned, saying that he "would make note" of things. We don't call that a proper response.
