An Okay stay

We attend my nephew's wrestling match and also visited the casino. The hotel was okay. We expected more. Courtyard gave the impression of a more fancy hotel. The first room that was assigned there were sharp edges on the napkin holder in the bathroom that could possibly cause an injury and nicks in the linoleum/tile on the bathroom floor that made it look dirty. The entry door did not appear secure with significant space between the door and door jamb. We were move to a different room and it wasn't much better.

The good, the bad, and the really ugly

When we checked in everything was as expected. It wasn't until 12:00 a.m. when things got uncomfortable...there next to our window was first a garbage truck picking up garbage from the Nugget Hotel next door and shortly thereafter, a delivery truck was making a delivery to Nugget hotel next store. Both trucks were very noisy and annoying. Also, the room was part of an adjointing room with the room next to us. We are non smokers, but unfortunately, the people from the next room were smokers. The cigarette odor was so strong in our room, it was so sickening. The next night, again the cigarette smell was so strong in our room and again was so sickening. We checked out one hour earlier than check out time, because we could not longer tolerate the strong cigarette smell. You should make a floor for non smokers. Also, upon checkout, there was people smoking directly outside the hotel and the kids and I covered our noses until we got to the car. Boy, we were glad to be out of there.

Ribs, Ribs, Ribs

We do the Rib Cookoff every year. Originally we were suppose to stay at the courtyard. We ended up in the West Tower on the 4th floor on a no smoking room. As soon as you opened the door, the smoked filled our lungs and we started coughing. The maid was in the hallway and sprayed something that didn't help. Our stay was Wed-Fri and housekeeping never serviced our rooms. We found a maid who was not in charge of our rooms who gave us new towels for the next day. Luckily it was a short walk to the Rib Cook off, we were able to have a nice breakfast in Rosie's Cafe, and when we were all ribbed out, we ate at their Buffet which as delicious. Not sure I will stay again if I can't get a REAL non-smoking room.

Sad, broken and out of date

It was the Reno Rodeo championships, but the rooms didn't quite make the finals. The staff did their best, but it was check-in time (3:30 p.m.) and there was ONE person to check in the seven people in line. The wedding party in the chapel also needed help from the same clerk. Poor planning by management! Once in the rooms, the air conditioning had two settings: on or off. The television remotes did not work, the rooms were very outdated and old looking. The beds were that hotel phony "king size" that simply isn't. The rooms were supposed to be adjoining, but instead were at opposite ends of the hall. I can honestly say that I do not plan to stay again at either the Nugget itself or in the Courtyard. There must be better choices in Reno.

For the price it was good.

I guess my experience was O.k. The only complaint is the room did not have a termastat to adjust the temperature of the room. I was a little too warm for me. Can't beat it for the price. Overall good experience

Entertainment tip: Long walk from hotel

This part of the Nugget hotel is around the side of the main hotel and is no way comparable to the regular hotel.. it would be fine for a convention or something but we perfer to stay in the main location without the walk it does need upgrading...

courtyard

Bed was so hard, I folded the bedspread four times and put it under the bottom sheet so my wife could sleep. Heater was hard to regulate, cycling between hot and cold. No coffee pot, no microwave, no refrig. Not even a microwave in the snack area where we could heat our special diet foods not available in the hotel.

overpriced, but quiet

For $80 the bathroom should have had a hair dryer (I had to request one)& fresh coat of paint. Had to plug in the lamp by the bed. With all of John Ascuaga's zillions of dollars, you'd think he could put flat screen TVs in the rooms & a coffee maker! Bed was comfortable & room was very quiet. The atrium pool should have been warmer.

Nice not to have to drive around - go to casino restaurants or the short walk to the Brewery for a nice dinner & to the Century 14 for a movie.

Marginal CASINo

I prepaid on Orbitz and then was told when I got to the Hotel/Casino, that I had to pay a $5.00 resort fee even though I checked in at 10:00 p.m. and was out the door at 7:00 a.m. so I didn't use any of the RESORT??? stuff. I think it is awful that they are allowed to do this. I asked for them to waive it and they wouldn't. I won't be staying here again!

Nightmare at the Courtyard a

The stay was hideous. We requested non-smoking ,adjoining rooms, one with two beds. We were placed on a smoking floor (I have asthma, and was told they could not help me), one bed in each room, which meant two teen-agers shared one bed! We faced the freeway, so could not even vent the smoky room. I went up three levels of management (at least that is what I was told) but no help. The pool at the hotel was closed and we could use the one at the other hotel, if we walked through two parking lots and a casino. I would rate it as one of my least favorite overnight stays. The worst part is they kept insisting that the non-smoking rooms I requested were only a request, and they did not have to honor a request. Why make a reques then? NEVER AGAIN!!!!!
