Fantastic. Last minute to see the eclipse. Great staff. Buffet small but fresh, good variety, tasty. Room large, clean quiet, smells good. Casino was fun. Seemed like "Old Reno" Tip: you must pull the bathtub water handle out to start the water flow :-)

do we really spend time in our room in reno?
the place is decent, nothing spectacular, it was fine, be aware there are no small fridges in the room..huge pet peeve of mine..no coffee maker, no iron or board, asked for smoking room, not provided, staff seemed friendly, its an older property, other casinos in easy walking distance, variety of games was 'ok'..one is fine staying here, if you want luxury its not the place..its a 6-7 at best- mark

My stay
My experience was good, I have no complaints, but I will suggest putting ironing board and a iron in the rooms. Also when it is cool or cold you may want to put more blankets on the beds

Horrible
This was a very basic room and not worth the money, even at a substantial discount. The wall paper looked 30 years old, the room (well, actually the entire hotel/casino) smelled musty, there were stains on the sheets and towels, exposed drill holes in the wall, and the clothes rail was mounted at a slant. It's one of those places where you don't even want to take off your shoes to go to bed and it just screams lack of care. The walls are paper thin so you hear the drunk casino guests yelling as they return to their rooms in the middle of the night and then the cleaning crew in the morning. And the casino itself is dated and worn. Next time we'll go to the Silver Legacy, it's only a block away and the casino is much nicer!

We Got What We Wanted
My daughter and I briefly visited Reno to check out the University of Nevada, Reno. All we were looking for in accommodations was a clean, safe, comfortable, and non-smoking place to sleep. We got that in addition to friendly service from everyone we encountered. The beds were comfortable and the pillows so wonderful that I want to get similar ones for at home. The room had a hairdryer and cable TV but if you want coffee pots and such, you will have to request one of the Sands more expensive rooms. The thing we appreciated the most was the fact that our non-smoking room really was a non-smoking room on a floor of non-smoking rooms. We have been to other places where a “non-smoking” room was a smoking room sprayed with room deodorizer that did not do the job. Not the case here. You ask for a non-smoking room and you really get one. All-in-all, we got very good value for our money.

Dining tip:
In Hotel
The dinner buffet was tasty and a good value when traveling with a “starving” teenager. However, once the feeding frenzy was over, we sought out less expensive fast food. The hotel’s pizzeria has the best soft serve ice cream we have ever had. We got an generous cone for only $1.00 and tax.

Need help at front desk
One person working registration. Waited twenty minutes to check in. Noisy room, closest to elevator and vending machines with pronounced noises from what I assume was elevator machinery. I suspect other rooms were available but that I was getting the "special" because I booked at a good rate.
