Stuck in Sparks
It is something of a misnomer that this hotel is in Reno.(its really in Sparks) For being an airport hotel, it was very pricey. So far out of downtown could have been a problem, but the hotel offered a 24hr shuttle to any casino. Just for that reason, it was woth the price. The people at the hotel were very pleasant and helpful. The pool was out of commission and it would have been helpful to know that.

Great place..
The staff was friendly, the hotel was close to the air port, within 5 blocks.. the hotel had free wifi with no problems and the food in the area was good.. I didnt have the morning breakfast there, but i was told from the people who also stayed there that it was very good.. I would definitely go back again.

Hawthorn, Reno Airport
The staff, especially the shuttle van drivers, were flexible and helpful in terms of getting me to and from a conference downtown. The place was clean, basic, quiet, and exactly what I needed. Kudos.

Hawthorne Suites in Reno, NV
Just returned from visiting family in Reno & this was a great location for us - close to family & the airport & quick access to Hwy. 395. Wal-Mart was close too. Negatives were that the cold water in the bathroom sink would not come out the 1st morning & the hot water in the room sink (kitchenette) did not flow either. Both were fixed in a timely manner. The other issue we had was with the workout equipment. The exercise bicycle did not work , nor was it fixed after the 1st day. Also, there was an elliptical trainer, but it did not work either - only the treadmills (there were 2). It would have been nice to have them angled toward the tv instead of a window with the blinds closed. There was no room safe to keep valuables. Bathroom was a little small, but adequate. Inside of drawers were scratched with "graffiti". Some paint chipped off wall. Breakfast was very good. We liked the waffles, sausage & ham, but bacon would have been a nice change (we were there 5 nights). The scrambled "eggs" (from powdered mix) were not tastey; would have preferred boiled eggs. They did have "omelets"; the bought kind that are heated. Fruit consisted of apples, oranges, bananas & fruit cocktail in a packaged container. We were there during Christmas holidays and it was very kind & thoughtful of the manager to provide a homecooked meal for guests & employees. It was very good too! We felt that the hostesses for the breakfast area were sometimes a little overwhelmed with the breakfast crowds & demands. At times it was very crowded & hard to get back & forth to your table. My recommendation would be to have some help when crowded to keep tables, serving line & floors cleaned.

Reno Stay
The hotel was nice, but we were in a handicapped equipped room and the shower was not very user friendly and flooded the bathroom. Breakfast was very nice and the staff very pleasent.

inexpensive, clean, quiet
The hotel is inexpensive, clean , quiet, and near the airport. It is definitely not luxurious and rooms are small. I wouldn't want to spend much time there, but for one night before an early flight, it was fine.

Happy with Hawthorn
Overall this was a nice place to stay. The fridge, coffee- maker, etc were very handy. I was impressed with the cheerful and happy housekeeping staff.....the front desk could take lessons from those girls :) It is not stated in the hotel information but they offer a shuttle service anywhere within 5 miles of the site.....with my hubby at conferences and meetings all day, I was able to explore downtown without having to pay for a cab.

Sightseeing tip:
Short drive from hotel
The River Walk was an unexpected pleasure for me. Many cool shops and places to duck into. Jungle Vino/Java is a sweet place to sit and read while watching the world go by. Pneumatic Diner is a must if you are vegetarian :)

Getaway
From the outside, it doesn't look great. However, after entering our room, we found it to be very pleasant. We had a nice refrigerator and small microwave. Had room service one evening. The resourt provided courtsey transportation to and from downtown. Was very timely. Also, a very good breakfast was provided. We were just there to relax.
