Grand Sierra Resort sucks big time

Even though I checked before I left for the trip I was not able to check in early. A Hotel with 27 floors had NO ROOMS available until 3pm Someone with a magic wand waved it and all the rooms in the hotel became free all at the same time. Very poor customer relations.

Wouldn't go barefoot in the bathroom

Probably a good place for bachelor parties. Hall smelled like urine. Our bathroom floor hadn't been cleaned. Could use a good paint job. Beds were comfortable and and the staff was very pleasant. It did have great night life and many differt types of restaurants.

Disappointed

We were very disappointed in our stay at the Grand Sierra. We were told we were given the last king bedroom, probably a room at the discount price we paid through this site. Our room was the very last room on the 3rd floor. It was suppose to be a nonsmoking room, but it smelled so heavily of stale cigarette smoke it was hard to believe it had ever been a nonsmoking room. The bathroom wasn't very clean, particularly around the toilet and the electrical outlet had a coating of dirt on it. No bath mat and no place to hang towels. Loud music, we assumed from the pool area, went on too late into the night and we woke up much too early to what I assumed was construction noise. It seems at a hotel that type of noise shouldn't be going on as early as 6:30 a.m. The staff was friendly enough and check-in and check-out was speedy. We enjoyed a fun dinner at Johnny Rockets-yummy hamburgers and malts and very friendly staff. Despite those positives, they are not enough for us to return to the Grand Sierra. A good night's sleep in a clean, pleasant smelling room is more important.

UNR visit

Hotel needs a makeover. Wall paper peeling in bathroom. Toilet would not flush. Carpet disgusting throughout rooms and hallways. Cocktail waitresses few and far between. Fitness center had numerous out-of-order machines and did not provide water. We will not stay at this hotel again.

Rooms are not comfortable

We were told at check-in that there was a pool party that started at 11PM and ended around 4AM. That there would be alot of noise and therefore the Kingsize bed room would be noisy. We got a room with two small uncomfortable beds and a loud group in the next room. Because of the connecting door we could hear them like they were in our room. It is obvious that the hotel is spending a lot of money in the lobby but they should be working on the rooms.

Bad Experience

My wife and I have stayed at the Grand Sierra many times however this time the staff was unbelievable rude / smart-alecky. The reservation supervisor, which I am not sure how her name was spelled because of her heavy accent, [...] was absolutely as rude of a person I have encountered in a longtime. My wife and I work in public service and understand that it can be trying and difficult to work with the public but this person needs to get out of this line of work. [...] I was just another number and not a good way to treat people. What has happened to the customer comes first? [...] Overall the worst hotel experience I have had in Reno in years. I travel to Reno on the average of once a month and this was as bad as it gets. Thanks for ruining my entire weekend!
