After Burning Man the Grand Sierra Hotel was a zoo of freaks returning from the desert. They were partying and smoking in the halls. You could hear laughter and the hiss of whip cream machines coming from the rooms. There were barefoot men in
furry vests dancing in the elevators. Scantily clad women were screaming in joy and running wild on the casino floor. It is a lot of fun if you like that sort of thing. If you don't, don't go there in the days after Burning Man ends!
Room wasn't clean when we checked in.
Sheets had blood stains, blankets were dirty, towels had green stuff stuck on them on the corners.
The bathtub was clogged and took 45 minutes for someone to unclogg it.
Every year i have stayed there it
keeps going further downhill...
The Grand Sierra has all of the usual tackiness of a large casino hotel, but nice and quiet rooms, an attentive staff, a pleasant pool area, and passable eating options. The housekeeping staff went back twice to find comfortable pillows when we
called; of the four guest rooms that I saw (including ones that friends stayed in), all were updated and had modern, if not a little tacky, fixturing. The breakfast buffet was everything you would expect with omelette station, all of the usual breakfast meats, pastries and baked goods. The italian restaurant was OK but overpriced.
Quick stop in Reno en route to BRC. Arrived after midnight so the shuttle wasn't running, but the GSR was a quick and cheap cab ride away from the airport. Nice and comfortable room, easy checkin and checkout.
Family oriented facility, clean and very modern, the casino doesn't smell like an ashtray from all the cigarette smoking like all the other casino so that's a plus especially for the kiddos. Super satisfied that they have a play area for the
kiddos, fun for adults because of the casino and fun for kiddos because of the arcade area.
