reasonable, but not 3.5 stars
The room was quiet and comfortable. There were only two electrical outlets, and connecting the laptop meant not connecting one lamp. There was no refridgerator, so the water I was charged for each day (resort fee of $10/day plus tax) was never used. Two of the lamps had broken portions on the lampshade. Would stay again, but would look for a cheaper rate.

Staying at Grand Sierra Resort Casion
Purpose of my travel was to attend a 3-day conference at the Grand Sierra Resort. Ecstatic that [...]offerred excellent flight times, flight costs and reduced room rate which was better than the conference rate. I booked a month in advance requesting non-smoking room and late check in. Then, I called two days before arrival for room confirmation and requested a king-size bed. After flying and tired upon arrival was told the only room available was first floor, smoking room - yuck! Disappointed, even after explaining I was attending a conference in their hotel, I was told that I need to contact the front desk in the morning because 1,000 guests were checking out to request a room change. I was informed that it's up to me to come back in the morning and request the room change personally, not the hotel's responsibility to change the room! I was able to change to a non-smoking room in the morning, but, still no king-size bed. I feel that (business) customers are not necessary their first priority. Some of the tiles in the shower need repairs. Also, if you are a non-smoker, ask for seating in restaurants where your table is located further away from the casino floor because you can smell the cigarette smoke.

Long walk from hotel
Wear comfortable shoes because walking distance to front desk, hotel rooms and conference rooms are all long walks no matter where you are in the casino resort. Some of the restaurants offerred good value on food. Although, I do not understand tipping requested at the cafe where one picks up to-go food.

[...]
The place is huge! And I've got no real complaints, except that the food (There are about a dozen restaurants) was a little overpriced and a little not too good. Not BAD, just not GOOD. And not really expensive, just slightly expensive for what you got. But really, you could say that of most hotels. But, that is not an IRON LAW! They could have really good food at decent prices, if they tried a little. But Reno has plenty of primo restaurants, so just go out to eat! And enjoy your stay! The rooms were very nice, fabbo, really. And the place has a nice central easy location. [...]

Get out and see the river walk. Reno is a cool city, and the Truckee river is a gem. People go whitewater rafting and fly fishing for lunker trout right in downtown Reno.

Grand Sierra Resort
My stay at GSR was average at best. My room was semi-clean, but there was mold in the grout of the shower. The shower was an annoying dribble-shower, so good luck rinsing the shampoo out of your hair. Limited channels on the TV; plus no complimentary coffee pot; no in-room microwave or fridge and no in-room safe either (which I found really odd at a casino). If you're not gambling the place is going to nickel and dime you to death. Since there is not a coffee pot in your room you be forced to order room service at close to $12 for an 8 cup pot of coffee OR you'll have to leave your room and go down to the main floor and buy a cup of coffee there. If you're not gambling a beer at the bar will cost you $4+. I also found the restaurants and the buffet REALLY expensive when compared to other casinos in the Reno area. The pool area is also expensive and kind of chaotic (not a real good place to relax). I order 2 Diet Cokes while pool side and it cost $4.50 for 2 cups of ice with a dash of soda. There are probably nicer casino/hotels in the Reno area that are a better value when it comes to food, drink and entertainment. I know there is, because I left GSR on a few of the nights that I was there. I spent my money elsewhere AND I got a much better value for my dollar.

fun getaway
The room was better than expected. The casino was fine, too much smoke in the air. The cafe messed up our bill 2 days in a row. The casino had lots to offer. The casino was very convenient to freeways and other casinos. We used the location to jump over to Lk Tahoe and Virginia City. Very close to the airport.

okay
Whole hotel quite smokey- even my non smoking room. Restaurants were very good as well as all the wait staff that we encountered. Bed was comfy, old tv, old worn out furnishings, bathroom not updated, no coffee maker... overall disappointed with the room. The strip if Reno is a $10 cab ride away- not walking distance. Not sure if I'd stay here again.
