Beautiful to look at but not customer focused!
I stayed at the Encore at the end of July 2011. The hotel is beautiful, staff were very pleasant and our room was great. However, I was rather dissappointed with the amenties. I travel to Vegas at least twice a year and have never been dissappointed until my stay at the Encore. All the restaurants were too pricy and most of them were costly buffets. I couldn't believe that there was no coffee pot or refrigerator for personal use in the rooms. To get them you have to pay extra. I was just in Memphis two weeks ago and stayed at the Marriott Courtyard and got all that and more for half the cost and customer service was great. Then the icing on the cake was at checkout. We had 20 minutes to wait for the airport shuttle and it was 30 minutes late. During that time we had no where to sit. There are no seats in the lobby, registation area or outside by the valet. My 68 year old aunt needed to sit down but we had to stand the whole time. Not very customer focused.

If you want a good meal leave the hotel and take a walk (kind of long) for reasonably priced, good food.

reserved a king non smoking room. Upon checking in discovered that I had to pay an additional $20.00 a day resort fee. Got to my room to discover it was a smoking room and it reaked. Called the front desk and they gave me a room with two double beds that was non smoking. A wonderful way to spend my 24th anniversary sleeping in separate beds. The next day they were able to get me a king non smoking room but not with the city view I requested. So that was fine until the maid decided to ignore the do not disturb sign and walked in and asked if she could make up the room now. The staff did not even apoligize for any inconvience they caused so I am not happy with this hotel.

Great location, overpriced, decor cheap
While the location could not be beat for shopping. We found the hotel extremely expensive on just about everything. A buffet for two cost over $80. Cappuccino for two cost over $12. Decor was somewhat cheap and in the case of the buffet, the color scheme was nauseating. Room was very clean with decent amenities and housekeeping and room service staff very friendly. Other staff in the hotel were somewhat distant and in a few cases seemed "bothered" when asked a question. Bar server spilled chips all over me when serving and bartender did not know how to make a "southern belle" for my wife. Slots generally are tight except for the $1 machines. Shopkeepers in the stores were very friendly and helpful.

Ask money for all
Room quality was excellent. We stayed at Panorama view room and the view from the hotel was excellent. I really liked the bed linens, such as pillow, blanket...etc. However, hotel service other than the room quality was not good. Hotel charges the internet at business center ( also the internet usage at room). In addition, it was hard to carry the stroller inside of the hotel. I had to check in first to get ticket hanging to stroller, which shows that I am the hotel guest. But when you arrived at the hotel first, you need to enter the gate first before you check in. It was impossible to get into the door with the stroller. I had to talk to Bell boy to get the ticket, but it was not the good first impression about the hotel. There was no bending machine in the floor level. I may not stay Wynn in the future.

Can I just sleep?
Hotel maintenance and customer service are important, but there is a point where it goes way over the top. While staying at the Wynn, my 7 year old son and I decided to rent a movie. At a point about three-quarters of the way thru the movie, there was a glitch, and it ceased to display. I called the front desk, was given the option of starting over, or receive a credit for the movie. My son was asleep by this time, so I opted to turn in myself. I had just fallen asleep when the phone rang, it was about 1:00 am. I explained we were sleeping and the problem was not a concern any longer. I turned off the lights and fell asleep again. At 1:20 am there was a pounding on my room door. I flew out of bed, peaked through the eyehole in the door. What I saw was a large man, again pounding on the door. I opened the door, incredulous at the scene and was queried about my TV viewing problem. I explained, while biting my tongue, that it was not a problem. I appreciate customer service, but this example will drive more customers away than it will attract.

Comfortable comes at a price
The Wynn resort rooms are very comfortable. The bed is one of the most comfortable beds I've slept in. Great showers - nice pressure and volume! Housekeeping was very attentive and timely. Luxury everywhere. Comfort comes at a price in Vegas however. Room service basic breakfast for two runs $90. Weekend table minimums are $100-300.
