Suncoast Is A Life Saver
We'd thought just a couple nights when my husband needed a angiogram and shunt put in at Summerlin Hospital in Las Vegas. Suncoast is just a couple miles away so it was way handy. 2 nights turned into 8, my husband needed a triple bypass. The hotel gave me a great rate so I didnt have to drive 2 hours home at night and again the next morning. It saved me from having to try to sleep in the waiting room. The only thing missing was a microwave in the room.

Excellent Hotel - With One Exception
I don't gamble so I stayed at this hotel mostly because the price was good and it was one of the closest to friends I was visiting for the holidays. Everything at the hotel was excellent - especially the food. They have a good selection of restaurants and buffets and the prices are very low for the quality of food and service. Even room service food was very reasonably priced. The only thing I found lacking was that they charged $13.95 per day for internet service. I was shocked - I hadn't stayed in a hotel or motel in the last 2 or 3 years that didn't offer free internet!

Was nice and quiet in the room; needs updating
The staff was very pleasant and willing to help. The room was very far away from the elevators, ice machine and would have wanted to stay closer to elevators since I have problems with feet. The bathroom floor/baseboard area needed cleaned better; bathtub, sinks, toliet clean; couldn't get the temperature up enough and it was chilly in the room. Went to the casino/resort so would be need someone I was meeting.

Kid-Friendly Vegas
We have family that lives in Vegas, however, when we visit, we like to stay in a hotel, as sort of a "mini-vacation." We have a child, so staying on the strip is not an option. Sun Coast is in a great location, and the hotel is "kid-friendly" for Vegas standard! It's a short walk to the elevators to access the rooms, and there's a TGI Friday's on the premises--which my child loves! We don't feel like "fish out of water" here, and my kid gets to see a little bit of the Casino, but is not exposed to all the "craziness" of the strip! WE (the parents) get to enjoy all that later!

smoking/non-smoking
I requested a balcony. Didn't get one. My reservations said "smoking". Didn't get one. I requested a room for 2 seniors. The hotel had us down for 2 adults and 2 children. Our room had two queen beds which was fine, but I could have gotten a cheaper room on my own. Will do that next time.

Where the seniors go...
I chose this hotel at the suggestion of my brother who lives in Vegas and was getting married at a nearby, much pricer hotel. The hotel was relatively nice, the only issues that I had were that they don't really attract a younger clientele, they don't have a shuttle to the Vegas strip, the public transportation to the strip stops at 11 p.m. so one could potentially get stranded unless you cab it for literally the cost of an arm and a few toes, and they are pretty far from the Vegas strip. I don't have anything against seniors but I definitely think that the hotel could do a better job at trying to attract a younger crowd to come and check the hotel out. It made me feel out of place to see all of the white hair and walkers. All in all everything was pretty quiet and average. This is not the hotel for those looking for the Vegas nightlife, party atmosphere, and debauchery, this place is very low key and quite a trek from the Vegas strip. I did appreciate that they didn't place the standard hold on my credit card that most hotels do, however, they did have a daily resort fee. I don't think I would stay there again unless I am just going to Las Vegas to relax...but really, who does that? The jacuzzi was nice but the pool was freezing cold. All in all it was okay, nothing to brag about but I don't have any ailing complaints either.

If you come to party, stay on the strip. This is probably better for seniors who just come to have a quiet relaxing time on the slots or for business people who want to save a few dollars on their travelling expenses. If you want to explore, you may have to rent a car. Renting a car is cheaper at this hotel than it is at the airport.
