Did not get what I expected
Both Orbitz & the Stratosphere charged resort fees for my stay (Stratosphere's was $7.95/night-a relative bargain to what Orbitz also charged me--$13.95/night) I paid $6/night for "premium view" which was 7th floor looking at the building floodlights & top of parking garage. People told me there are mountains & sunrise/sets to see, but I wouldn't know. Pool & recreation is under construction, and for the resort fee (pay twice!) you go somewhere else.

Reservations not honored at Stratosphere
I arrived at the Stratosphere to a room with a filthy food tray sitting on the floor. The Orbitz reservation guaranteed a room with a view. The room was on the 5th floor with one small window which overlooked the duct system. There was no sun shining through at it was 5 in the afternoon . I called the desk and told them the room was not acceptable and they told me there was nothing until the following morning. I had dinner plans that evening and went straight to the lobby got back in line at the reservations counter and was finally helped by a man who said "the only room with view will cost you 50 a night extra.I don't have anything else". Since I had dinner plans, I took the room thinking I'll settle when I check out due to the time crunch. The gal at the checkout line referred me to her "manager" who turned out to be [...] (asst. Mgr.). I told her what happened and showed her my reservation on paper and she refused to honor the original reservation price. She was going to refer me to group sales and I told her that she should honor what I had booked and refused. The Stratosphere is a smelly, smokey, unkempt hotel. I have never checked into a hotel to a room with a dirty meal tray present, been hasseled back and forth about a reserved room , and would not recommend this hotel. Also, there were old McDonald's bags and fortune cookies in the wet bar cabinet. Room not cleaned. No occupied/unoccupied sign on door for housekeeping. Did not replentish soaps and shampoos. No bottled water provided.

Time-saving tip:
Not Applicable
There is no rating system on your satisfaction survey. No numbers or scale provided, therefore I am unable to answer it. Save your time and don't bother staying here. The only reason I filled in the satisfaction survey is because they don't let you post this unless you do. I was highly dissatisfied.

I will not return to Stratosphere. I did not like being charged amusement park tax when I did not use amusement park or take elevator ride to the top. I have had better ammenities at the Motel 6 in Las Vegas then at the stratosphere !!! i saw no jackpots hit in 5 days by anyone. too manys drunks and too few security staff ( in fact I saw no security staff at all ).

Not pleased
The hotel would have only been a two and a half in any city but this is Vegas! Everything inside just kind of says "ahh, good enough". The worst part is the location. It's far from the fun parts of the strip and it literally neighbors a slum project. The taxi driver took a detour through there and there were drug addicts hanging on the streets. I checked in and then booked a room at the Luxor. My advice is pay more and stay somewhere else.

Short drive from hotel
Everything is pretty far away so you're going to have a good drive or cab ride to sight-see. DON'T walk near the hotel.

BAD Location, Dirty Rooms
We did not spend much time at the hotel..we are in our 40's..this hotel is for a younger crowd...Hotel is in bad area, they should have security outside, and not allowing loitering by undesirables...Beds were made but sink area was dirty and used toiletries were left there

HATED IT!!!!!!!
The reception team was unfriendly and hardly apologetic about the fact there systems were down for over an hour and no one could check in or out. The smoking section of the hotel is old and smells alot like the zoo on a hot humid day. After losing over a $100 dollars the bartender charged me $16 for drink saying he couldn't "comp just ANYBODY"! (NO TIP FOR HIM!!!) My 30 29 year old sister was handled rudely and Id'd for water! Water!?!? The only thing cool was the bellhop that was so endearing and nice I tried to tip him twice. I tried to make the best of it. but after the 1st night I refused to spend anymore money at my hotel. My room was stuffy and stinky with a small window overlooking carl's jr and a [*] hotel. I hated it. NEVER AGAIN>
