The Stratosphere Casino Hotel and Tower is often the first glimpse travelers get of the vibrant city of Las Vegas, since it can be seen clearly not only from McCarran International Airport (LAS), but from the seclusion of Red Rock Canyon some 20 miles away. Stay at 'The Strat' for an 80,000-square-foot casino, complete with a wide range of table games and video slots, a revolving restaurant, adrenaline-pumping thrill rides and a wedding chapel for the rapturously impulsive.  And whether it's dining at Zagat-rated restaurants, taking a dip in the crystal clear pools, or even shopping at the on-site magic store with dreams of emulating Las Vegas' magicians Penn & Teller, no traveler could get bored in this mini metropolis.

Neighborhood
Situated roughly halfway between the hustle and bustle of 'new' Vegas, with state-of-the-art complexes such as CityCenter, and classic 'old' Vegas - the city from the Bugsy Siegel era - the Stratosphere provides guests with the best of both worlds. Mix the glamor of 'The Strip' with the old-time romance of Fremont Street, and witness an amazing, overhead, free light show occurring every evening.
Hints and tips
Stratosphere's Air Bar is currently the highest bar in the city - at 800 feet - and offers views across the infamous Vegas skyline, but you will require a reservation, because access can be tricky on busy nights. If a rebellious alternative is more your thing, why not simply drop down just one floor to the Level 107 Lounge? Enjoy the same vista over 'bright light city' without the crowds.
Policies and Fees

The property charges a Resort Fee of $17.99 USD plus 12% tax per room, per night for a total of $20.15 USD. Amenities include unlimited admission for up to 4 guests per room to the Stratosphere Tower's indoor and outdoor observation decks, use of the fitness centre and seasonal pool and parking (valet or covered self-park available).

This is not a comprehensive list of fees. Any amounts listed above may not include taxes and are subject to change.

Poor quality room

The room was clean but poor quality. The toilet paper holder was so old that it was larger than the toilet paper roll so the roll would barely stay on the roller. Very small windows :-( very cheap furniture. TV speakers didn't work very well. If you turned up the volume at all the sound was distorted. Bedside lamp didn't work unless you giggled the switch. Was to far away for both the big strip and Femont.

Money-saving tip: Long walk from hotel

The bus worked great for getting to Fremont and only cost $8.00 for a 24 hr ticket. Cab to Fremont was $10.00 without tip each way.

Where's the Safe?

First, I requested a smoking room and they gave us non-smoking. I asked to be moved and they were not able to get me a smoking room in the select tower so we were downgraded without compensation. The new room did not have a refrigerator or a safe ... in Vegas? It did have a nice tub. We liked the shops and restaurants around the casino, especially the 50's diner.

very dissapointing

The room was out dated, dirty and not up to our standards. There were absolutely no extras. The bottom line is the hotel is more like a motel and needs a drastic remodel. Not a single pool cabana is located with a view of the pool ... you need to get a professional to take a look at how to improve the overall looks. :(

low budget

The room was dirty. The front desk attempted to give us a special needs room although neither of us had any handicap. I felt as a gay couple, we were snubbed! The room and pool were in terrible condition, and in great need of updating.

Vegas

It is at the far end of the strip, which makes it a bit difficult to get to places. However, the Deuce and Express buses both stop right at the hotel. The casino and pool were both nice, and the view from the tower is great. Our room was very dated and not that nice. However, it was very cheap. The renovated rooms (like those shown in the pictures on the website) cost more. They have all you can drink happy hour, but the alcohol used is very cheap and the drinks don't taste very good. The tower has 2 for 1 martinis during happy hour however, which we really enjoyed. The buffet was only OK, and the service at the 50s restaurant was poor.

A dated and far from luxurious hotel.

Our room needed renovation and the casino looked worn. The restaurants were average. The tower was fun and the staff was very friendly. If you have a family and want to stay on the strip, The Stratosphere is a good value.

Just so so

It is said that the hotel is at the strip, but it turned out to be 3 miles away. The sink was blocked when we were there. The AC was too noizy. But the staff service was nice.

Fair deal for price

Rooms were just like what was shown on website for refurbished updated room. They were very pleasant. Check in staff was robotic but it was a busy weekend. Room faced a blank wall (make sure to ask for a higher floor above 9) Bathroom lighting was dim to say the least. Overall, fair price for the location and amenities.

Worth the price

Despite not being in the very center of things, its a fun hotel/casino and much cheaper than the rest of the strip.

Vegas

Stratosphere is dirty Vegas compared to the glitz and glamor of the hotels in the heart of the strip. But, the room was clean and the staff was nice enough. If you want something cheap and easy, this is the place for you!

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

The peppermill diner is a walk down the street. It is cheap and the portion size is high. They are always busy, but have good friendly fast service.
