The Stratosphere Casino Hotel and Tower is often the first glimpse travelers get of the vibrant city of Las Vegas, since it can be seen clearly not only from McCarran International Airport (LAS), but from the seclusion of Red Rock Canyon some 20 miles away. Stay at 'The Strat' for an 80,000-square-foot casino, complete with a wide range of table games and video slots, a revolving restaurant, adrenaline-pumping thrill rides and a wedding chapel for the rapturously impulsive.  And whether it's dining at Zagat-rated restaurants, taking a dip in the crystal clear pools, or even shopping at the on-site magic store with dreams of emulating Las Vegas' magicians Penn & Teller, no traveler could get bored in this mini metropolis.

Neighborhood
Situated roughly halfway between the hustle and bustle of 'new' Vegas, with state-of-the-art complexes such as CityCenter, and classic 'old' Vegas - the city from the Bugsy Siegel era - the Stratosphere provides guests with the best of both worlds. Mix the glamor of 'The Strip' with the old-time romance of Fremont Street, and witness an amazing, overhead, free light show occurring every evening.
Hints and tips
Stratosphere's Air Bar is currently the highest bar in the city - at 800 feet - and offers views across the infamous Vegas skyline, but you will require a reservation, because access can be tricky on busy nights. If a rebellious alternative is more your thing, why not simply drop down just one floor to the Level 107 Lounge? Enjoy the same vista over 'bright light city' without the crowds.

It was great

The staff are friendly and helpful, in all areas. Friday and Saturday the whole town was busy, so there was a little noise, but it wasn't bad. The casino, like all the casinos, is still smokey. The little mexican restaurant on the 'R' level is good and inexpensive. If you are 60 or older the bus carrier sells a three-day pass for 7.50. A one-day pass is 7.00. You must go to either end of the run to get a free id card, first. Be prepared for sa slow ride on the bus or one long long walk to experience the strip. The room was plain, but clean, as we opted for the low end of rooms for the cost. Enjoy

You can spend the day and evening going to free shows. However, few have any seating! We walked miles and miles over the four days, in addition to time on 'The Deuce' (bus). Places to rest are called slot machines, you pay by the pull!

Nice for the Price

The hotel was nice for the price. The rooms were clean and the staff was very pleasant. The only thing I didn't care for was the actual surroundings of the hotel. Too many tattoo parlors.

Shopping tip: Short drive from hotel

If you are into shopping, go South on the Las Vegas strip past the "Welcome" sign. On the right is a great outdoor shopping area. Very big, just about everything there. On the left is an indoor Outlet Mall. Also quite a few of your standard Outlet stores.

Stratosphere

We upgraded our room for $10 per night, only to be placed on the back side of the casino with rumbling sounds day and night (from the elevator next door!). The room itself was very clean.

Nice Hotel for the money

Overall this is a vey nice hotel to stay at. It's clean, quiet, nice pool and the Top Of The Statasphere resturant with it's rotating floor and great view is outstanding. And the food is good too. it's a lil far from the main strip but just a short bus ride away from the more popular and more expensive hotels.

value for money

It is one of the best value hotel available at the strip for roughly $25 a nite. Location wise is abit far from the action but drivable within 5 mins to most destination. The good thing is there are much to do at Stratosphere too whether for casino or the tower xtreme rides or a quiet night view at the top of the tower free for guests. Ammenities are like other similar 3 star hotels which is not much.

Great Location...Excellent view of Strip

Great view on top of the Stratesphere. Hotel romm is good condition, but we just hated the Casino floor because the smell of people smoking cigarette is strong. Roxy's Cafe in Hotel was excellent at day, but at night staff wasn't friendly at all. Don't go there and eat at night!!!

Great room - wonderful buffet!

We selected this hotel because we went to Vegas for a family wedding, and everyone else was staying there. The price was also much cheaper than the larger hotels on the strip. We had a Premier Tower room, which was nice and clean. The drinks were plentiful on the casino floor, although a bit weak. The hotel buffet was really great. We also went to Roxy's Diner inside the hotel, which was also good with large portions. Overall, the hotel was great, but a bit off the beaten path. We chose to travel through the town mostly by the monorail, but wouldn't do that again, because it involved WAY too much walking! Next time we'll take the deuce bus or cabs or stay in a hotel closer to the center of the strip. Overall, the Stratosphere was a great value.
