The Stratosphere Casino Hotel and Tower is often the first glimpse travelers get of the vibrant city of Las Vegas, since it can be seen clearly not only from McCarran International Airport (LAS), but from the seclusion of Red Rock Canyon some 20 miles away. Stay at 'The Strat' for an 80,000-square-foot casino, complete with a wide range of table games and video slots, a revolving restaurant, adrenaline-pumping thrill rides and a wedding chapel for the rapturously impulsive.  And whether it's dining at Zagat-rated restaurants, taking a dip in the crystal clear pools, or even shopping at the on-site magic store with dreams of emulating Las Vegas' magicians Penn & Teller, no traveler could get bored in this mini metropolis.
Key facts

Neighborhood
Situated roughly halfway between the hustle and bustle of 'new' Vegas, with state-of-the-art complexes such as CityCenter, and classic 'old' Vegas - the city from the Bugsy Siegel era - the Stratosphere provides guests with the best of both worlds. Mix the glamor of 'The Strip' with the old-time romance of Fremont Street, and witness an amazing, overhead, free light show occurring every evening.
Hints and tips
Stratosphere's Air Bar is currently the highest bar in the city - at 800 feet - and offers views across the infamous Vegas skyline, but you will require a reservation, because access can be tricky on busy nights. If a rebellious alternative is more your thing, why not simply drop down just one floor to the Level 107 Lounge? Enjoy the same vista over 'bright light city' without the crowds.

Wonderful honeymoon!

We got married in Vegas and love loved this hotel. You can find it from anywhere in the city and the room was large, clean and comfy. I requested and we were put on the top (24th) floor. The views were spectacular! There was no refrig or microwave, as to be expected. The staff were friendly and helpful. The spa quotes $55 for a hairdo and tells you it will be $165 when you come for your appointment. Two drinks cost $50 w/tip in the spire bar. The food is extremely high at the restaurants but there is an IHOP a block away and restaurants galore within walking distance. Over all, an incredible value and a wonderful place to stay. We'll be back and will encourage our friends to stay here.

Dining tip: Long walk from hotel

Ellis Island Restaurant next to Bally's had an incredible steak meal for $7.99 with a free player's card (also had $10 free slot play for us each - we walked out with $16 in winnings). I had the prime rib dinner for $13.99 and it was terrific!

Airport travel cost was too much

Orbitz charge for airport/hotel transportation was too much, current prices are cheaper. Hotel is last on edge of strip, so it is an effort to get to all other hotels. Bad neighborhood, near train tracks, but, seems less crowed, quieter in general to others, and less crazy atmosphere.

Time-saving tip: Long walk from hotel

Except for the 3 rides and view, there is not much to do at this hotel, so travel to others was costly and took alot of time and energy. Travel costs alot more booking "deals" thru Orbitz. Recommend to book southwest flights for Tucson, and book hotel etc. separately.

Okay, but too far from the strip

the hotel was WAY too far from the strip. to get to any of the main hotels, it costs a $15 cab ride, or takes 30-45 min to walk there. I would definitely not stay at the stratosphere again.

so so..

I booked Stratosphere for two reasons 1. It was the cheapest on the strip, 2. Wanted to save some time by staying in a hotel that had one of the have-to-do attractions (the thrill rides). Even though the hotel was decent the restaurants and bars are NO WAY compared to the ones you will find at the Wynn or the MGM or any other decent hotel. The rooms were rather small and not very clean. The carpet looked old and the casino lacks the spark. If you are willing to spend a little extra stay at MGM or Bellagio or something. But the rides at Stratosphere are completely worth it.

fun in Vegas

We did experience Las Vegas strip, I am glad we rented a car because the location isn't the best. Around the back side of the hotel it is a very run down bad part of town. Veiw off the top of tower is neat. The beds were comfortable and rooms are clean.

Not quite what I expected

I found this hotel on Orbitz when I was planning a last minute trip with some girlfriends. We were there just to have a good time, not spend a lot of money, and relax. First, I was charged a resort fee on top of what my original Orbitz price was. This really surprised me. The room was adequate other than that all of the drains were clogged, from the sink to the shower. This was a fun hotel to hang out the casino, lounge, etc, but it's at the far end of the strip so don't plan on walking.

A place to lay your head for sure.

Me and my wife took this trip to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversity. The pics of the hotel rooms were very pretty on your site, however they were very inaccurate. The rooms weren't luxuerious at all. Very average at best. The hotel extras were fine.
