The Stratosphere Casino Hotel and Tower is often the first glimpse travelers get of the vibrant city of Las Vegas, since it can be seen clearly not only from McCarran International Airport (LAS), but from the seclusion of Red Rock Canyon some 20 miles away. Stay at 'The Strat' for an 80,000-square-foot casino, complete with a wide range of table games and video slots, a revolving restaurant, adrenaline-pumping thrill rides and a wedding chapel for the rapturously impulsive.  And whether it's dining at Zagat-rated restaurants, taking a dip in the crystal clear pools, or even shopping at the on-site magic store with dreams of emulating Las Vegas' magicians Penn & Teller, no traveler could get bored in this mini metropolis.
Key facts
  • 2,427 guestrooms

  • 8,000-square-foot meeting space

Neighborhood
Situated roughly halfway between the hustle and bustle of 'new' Vegas, with state-of-the-art complexes such as CityCenter, and classic 'old' Vegas - the city from the Bugsy Siegel era - the Stratosphere provides guests with the best of both worlds. Mix the glamor of 'The Strip' with the old-time romance of Fremont Street, and witness an amazing, overhead, free light show occurring every evening.
Hints and tips
Stratosphere's Air Bar is currently the highest bar in the city - at 800 feet - and offers views across the infamous Vegas skyline, but you will require a reservation, because access can be tricky on busy nights. If a rebellious alternative is more your thing, why not simply drop down just one floor to the Level 107 Lounge? Enjoy the same vista over 'bright light city' without the crowds.
Policies and Fees

  • The property charges a Resort Fee of $17.99 USD plus 12% tax per room, per night for a total of $20.15 USD. Amenities include unlimited admission for up to 4 guests per room to the Stratosphere Tower's indoor and outdoor observation decks, use of the fitness centre and seasonal pool and parking (valet or covered self-park available).
  • The pool at 8th floor will be closed for maintenance on 2-24 February 2015.

This is not a comprehensive list of fees. Any amounts listed above may not include taxes and are subject to change.

A bargain hunter's hotel

This was a great choice for a group of ladies right out of college that need a bargain but still want to have a blast. The topless pool on the top floor was a great haven for one of us for tanning and relaxing while the price was great to be able to have money left over to go out at night. Very close to Fremont street but too far away from the strip to walk and kind of in a tougher neighborhood. If you plan on walking most everywhere, do it before dark. We ended up spending a lot more on cabs than we originally budgeted but it was fine since I saved so much booking the hotel anyway. Good casino, not too many kids, and they gave us a wonderful room with strip view.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Take the bus that runs up and down the strip if you are alone or in a group of less than 4 as it is cheap to get down to the strip and back if you have a few extra minutes.

excellent value and services

this is my 2nd time at the Statosphere and each time has been a pleasant stay for the price. The location maybe a little far from the strip but with the bus you can get to the strip in minuites. Will stay there again, facilities and the 24/7 Macdonalds you cannot go hungry..

The Strat's a Nice Value.

Have used the Stratosphere for business and vacation in the past. They offer competitive rates to other strip hotels, though you should probably rent a car rather than walk to other locations on strip. Also, you walk a ways from parking garage to check-in desk, then walk again to get to the elevators, but once done, you'll get used to it. And, once you have a room, getting from the parking structure to the elevators does not include walking through much of the casino. The room and bathroom were fine, no complaints. One thing I didn't get used to was the AC/Heater "thermostat" in the room, which someone had set at 62 degrees for late October. I finally figured the toggle controls to switch the fan and AC off after the first cold night. The hotel's been remodeled a bit since my last stay. The Sportsbook seems smaller, though now has more TVs. There is also a new central bar area, and a Starbucks carved out of the breakfast cafe. There's an info desk located right near the escalators and valet entrances, if you need to ask for directions or tips. The Mr. Lucky's cafe is open 24/7 for late night snacks. Also, there's an extensive coupon book that included free admission to the top of the Tower. Overall, the Strat's a good value for the money.

If possible, ask for a room in the "Premier" Tower, which includes renovated rooms, and is closer to the parking garage and valet.

Stratosphere Trip

When we checked into the Hotel, we entered our room to see that someone had been in there and slept in our bed, and used the shower and towels, the maid service came and changed the sheets and gave us fresh towels within the hour. The food was wonderful, the drinks are very expensive if your not playing on a machine but they are very good drinks, not cheaply made. I guess at 8-9 dollars each, they should be good! LOL! We took a night helicoptor flight over Vegas and that was terrific, and then went to see the Chriss Angel magic show, which was also fabulous! The Strat has wonderful sights from the top floor, and you go down at like 20 floors per 3 seconds! Its quit a ride! I didn't ride the 3 rides on top but I watched the people that did, and its most definately NOT for the faint of heart! Had a WONDERFUL TIME! But be warned!!! There are hidden fee's around EVERY corner! including the Strat! Not extreme, but they ARE there! 73 bucks at Alamo rental car agency and 22 at the Strat! Just a heads up! Have fun!! :)

Stratosphere

We upgraded our room for $10 per night, only to be placed on the back side of the casino with rumbling sounds day and night (from the elevator next door!). The room itself was very clean.
