The Stratosphere Casino Hotel and Tower is often the first glimpse travelers get of the vibrant city of Las Vegas, since it can be seen clearly not only from McCarran International Airport (LAS), but from the seclusion of Red Rock Canyon some 20 miles away. Stay at 'The Strat' for an 80,000-square-foot casino, complete with a wide range of table games and video slots, a revolving restaurant, adrenaline-pumping thrill rides and a wedding chapel for the rapturously impulsive.  And whether it's dining at Zagat-rated restaurants, taking a dip in the crystal clear pools, or even shopping at the on-site magic store with dreams of emulating Las Vegas' magicians Penn & Teller, no traveler could get bored in this mini metropolis.
Key facts
  • 2,427 guestrooms

  • 8,000-square-foot meeting space

Neighborhood
Situated roughly halfway between the hustle and bustle of 'new' Vegas, with state-of-the-art complexes such as CityCenter, and classic 'old' Vegas - the city from the Bugsy Siegel era - the Stratosphere provides guests with the best of both worlds. Mix the glamor of 'The Strip' with the old-time romance of Fremont Street, and witness an amazing, overhead, free light show occurring every evening.
Hints and tips
Stratosphere's Air Bar is currently the highest bar in the city - at 800 feet - and offers views across the infamous Vegas skyline, but you will require a reservation, because access can be tricky on busy nights. If a rebellious alternative is more your thing, why not simply drop down just one floor to the Level 107 Lounge? Enjoy the same vista over 'bright light city' without the crowds.
Policies and Fees

The property charges a Resort Fee of $17.99 USD plus 12% tax per room, per night for a total of $20.15 USD. Amenities include unlimited admission for up to 4 guests per room to the Stratosphere Tower's indoor and outdoor observation decks, use of the fitness centre and seasonal pool and parking (valet or covered self-park available).

This is not a comprehensive list of fees. Any amounts listed above may not include taxes and are subject to change.

Good for the price

The staff was wonderful. Hotel was clean and updated. The only thing is that it's located far from the central action of the strip. Close to the premium outlet mall.

Vegas getaway

Hotel stay was good for the money. It is north of the main action on the strip, which is why it costs a little less. Only thing that was less than average is the maids hair on the bath towels that were hanging and on the toilet when we arrived in our room. Maids should have caught that. I don't want to see someone else's hair in our room. Makes you question the cleanliness.

ok for the price

Not happy with our view, looked at a sign the whole four days we were there. Had to pay extra for a room with a view. All the staff were ok, nothing special. Room nice except for view.

A few nights of getaway

Everything was pretty good, we stayed on the top floor by paying an extra $20 a night. We would probably stay there again, the tower is awesome best part. It is close to drive to downtown or strip. Room was clean, beds and pillows were just ok, but toilets flushed really loud. A little annoying when sharing a room with someone getting up at night. Overall nice but really only reccomend if you have a car to drive to see other sights.Food in the diner was good a little pricey though for what you get. Milk shake was great and big!

Gross

When I went to my room after check in it was FILTHY. Beer cans all over the floor, clearly not changed bed, and someone left a gift in the toilet. When I called front desk they told me they'd "send someone up to clean it". It was 2 a.m. and I just wanted to go to bed, not wait for someone to come clean. I asked for a new room, which they did accommodate. That room was still pretty gross but at least it appears to have been cleaned. I'm not a crazy picky person but this is not even close to being a 3+ star place. I won't stay here again.

Great

I loved this hotel. Had a great view, great casino. It was a nicer and a little more upscale but I was happy to see they had black jack tables that had $5 hands. Most of the upscale ones had $10 hands and above. Nice staff. Clean. Great.

Walk to the outskirts to eat and buy cigarettes if you're a smoker: cheaper than buying on the strip on in a casino.

great value for a week in vegas

Overall experience was very good at the strat. Only downside is that crossing the road in Vegas is a chore in itself, so walking to main casino's on the strip takes a while. We learnt the hard way and conceded to getting the deuce bus to strip and to downtown Vegas (Fremont etc), deuce being great value ($20 for 3 days). Strat rooms are basic but very clean and cosy (think a posh premier inn), for a week in Vegas it was perfect to get a good night's sleep and a hot & powerful shower. Stayed on floor 6 which was very quiet. Pool, hot tub and poolside bar are good. Rides and sky jump are great. Pin up show is good. Roxys diner best place to eat. Overall very good, if out of the way a little - which is maybe why it's cheaper.

Time-saving tip: Long walk from hotel

Get the deuce bus to strip or to downtown Vegas (Fremont etc). Great value at $20 for 3 days unlimited travel. Will save you blisters. Also roxys diner is best place to eat in hotel. Plus cafe across road does very cheap ($5 for full brekkie) and good food.
