vegas gone to ct
it was ok
well i come from vegas. i have lived in ct for the last 7 years. now when i go back home to visit i always stay with family or friends. well we got a room becuase we had on having a girls night out and drinking a lot. so to be safe we got a room. we liked the location of this one because it was kinda in the middle. when i checked in the lady was ok not rude but not very friendly. then as i was checking in a few of my friends were walking up to meet me and we would go check out the room and finish getting ready for the night. well one of the other ladies behinde the check in counter yelled very rudly to my friend " YOU CAN NOT SMOKE IN THIS AREA PUT THE CIG. OUT RIGHT NOW OR LEAVE!!!" we got up to the room and it wasnt very clean. but it would do. i mean by the time we would be going to sleep we would be drunk anyways so it was fine for that. but if i were lookin for a place to stay with my family for a vaction... i would not stay here i stayed at the golden nugget the year before and it was much better clean freindlier, and had stuff for all ages!!

Unsatisfied Customer
My unsatisfied experience began at checking. I was not listed on the reservation and was asked to call Orbit to have my name added to the reservation which took over two hours for an orbits rep. to fax a document over to the hotel to give them permission ot add my name to the reservation. I was promissed a $25 coupon from orbits rep. ([...]) for my troubles but It was not in my inbox when I got home. Then there was to rude hotel fron desk staff who call me stupid for not understanding how to find my room sicne the hotel had four or five different towers.

Kady's restaurant SLOW and employees argued amongst themselves in our presence. Other eating places quite expensive. McDonald's across the street and Circus Cirus, Subway more reasonable. Food Court on the side of the hotel had WONDERFUL food for under $10 a person

Sheesh
We stayed at the Riviera based on 3 things: 1) price (1st mistake) 2) proximity to the Hilton where friends were staying 3) reviews on this site Well the price was certainly right. But I later found out that there are great rates all over town with better rooms. For sure better beds, but I digress. It appears that the hotel is located close to the Hilton but after walking a huge block in the heat and dodging construction sites we decided a cab was the better choice....a 7 dollar ride. The casino was dreary and the cafe was overpriced. We didn't eat there. It was handily located near 7-11, Walgreens and Denny's if one is interested in that. We spent most of one day at the Hilton in friends'pool and room which was fab. We were so tired from that we slept for a couple of hours on the cardboard beds (my hip was killing me)then went back to join our friends at the Hilton for supper at Benihana (high $ but worth it). Totally tired after the long day. Friends left so wanted to check out the strip for a day. Riviera is at the north end of the strip so not close to anything like Mirage Volcano or Bellagio fountains etc. Rather than taking a $20 cab or messing with a bus we decided to SPLIT even though our room was paid for for another night. While I was on the phone checking with other hotels my friend was literally throwing stuff in her suitcase in anticipation of leaving. LOL. We found a great room at the Monte Carlo on the 26th floor. Ahhhhhh. NO comparison. Fluffy beds, nice furnishings, marble bath, nice view. The Riv had a great view of an ugly parking lot and the backs of strip malls. Very depressing. I suppose we could have complained and gotten a better room. I understand they have renovated at least one tower but I guess when you book a package they stick you in anything you will settle for. We tried to actually check out when we were fleeing and noticed a HUGE line of PO'd people in the lobby. The computers were down.I gave the desk clerk my info and she assured me she would check me out but I checked the next day and she had not. The staff was surly except for the cleaning staff. They did a good job considering what they had to work with and we did tip them. As far as the other reviews I read on this site....the folks were either liars or had very poor taste. Sorry but the Riv has seen better days. I was not happy with my choice. My bad.

Flea bites on Shoulders . Worst!!
I did stay 7 nights in Vegas, 4 nights at BALLY'S and 3 night at Riviera. Because of the high rate for 4th of July, we moved to Riviera. The room was too small, King size bed was not a real king size, I could hear every single word people talking in the next door room. Even worse, I've got lots of flea bites on my shoulders and soles. :( It was cheap though.. If there were not fleas in the room and it was not 4th of July(high rate!), maybe I would recommend this hotel. Cheap, still on the main strip, etc.

Short drive from hotel
It is sooo expensive to pay every meal at Vegas. You have to remember, generally, there's no complimentary bottle of water, no electronic kellte, no coffee maker, no fridge, no nothing in your room. If you're concerned with high expense for eating, You can buy groceries like fresh fruits, vegetables, anything for your breakfast or sandwitches, milk and water at Food 4 Less. Take the west bound bus at flamingo hotel and take off at Jones Blvd. Buy 24 hour pass for RTC bus($7), use them to tour Las vegas and shop food too. For example, a pack of milk is over two times expensive than food4less at any hotels. Fruit's $1.25 per any one at hotels, Walgreen's is not that cheap too..

Highly disappointing check-in policy
We missed our connecting flight to Vegas and got delayed by 15 hours. Meanwhile this hotel canceled our reservation. On top of that they did not even accommodate us into another room saying all rooms are booked. They were not even courteous to give me or Orbitz a call before canceling our reservation. I had to spend 3 hours trying to book another hotel. It was highly disappointing.

Never again at the Riviera
This is the worst place I have ever been in. We checked in, went up to our room and it was never cleaned from the previous guests. No hot water in the showers, rude people, not a big gaming floor, the worst slot machines I have ever seen, mostly very old ones. Not a wide variety of anything. Bad location, dirty, staff was hard to find on the floor. Nowhere to eat in the casino, everything closed so early. Won't ever go back.

horrible
We checked into our 1st room and there were dirty towels on the floor next to the toilet. The tub was also filthy. They changed us to room #2 where there were dead bugs on the pillows. We got to room #3 and the keys didn't work despite 3 trips to the front desk to take care of the key situation. They moved us to room #4 and the bugs were crawling across the bed this time (we video taped as we knew no one would believe all of this). We were finally moved to a suite and while it was definitely bug free, it looked like the oldest suite on the strip. Out dated everything including 27 inch tube televisions sitting on a tv stand. At least the rooms with the bugs and dirty towels had plush pillow top comforters and mattresses. Then to top it off, housekeeping comes by knocking on doors and ringing the door bell at 9:45 when check out isn't even until 11. Although it took us almost 2 hours to get settled into a room, we still had to pay $20 for a late check out.

Never Again
After driving seven hours to Las Vegas, the last thing I want to do is receive attitude from guest services. Unfortunately I did. When I arrived I was told I had no reservation. [...]All the staff at the Riviera seemed to hate their job and looked miserable. Besides that the hotel was okay, it is pretty clean. 2 of 4 lights worked in the room. There is an open space at the bottom of each door so anytime there are people walking in the hall and having a conversation you hear it.

Rivera, not the place to stay!
I have been to Vegas several times previously and have stayed at several hotels there. I have to say that Riviera is the worse place I've ever stayed. The staff was unfriendly and not helpful at all. The room was not up to our standards. The bathroom was very small and the sink was moldy. The tub was gross!
