They put us in the newly-furnished Monaco tower, which was more than I had hoped for. The room was fairly clean, but the bathroom reeks.

Nice room at a good price

Our room was decent-sized, clean, with fresh linens and a clean bathroom. We had a 32-inch LCD TV in our room, the furnishings were modern, and the beds were plush. I was told that they recently renovated both of their towers. I have traveled extensively (and stayed in several Vegas hotels), and the quality of the room is comparable to a Marriott or Sheraton at a fraction of the price. Plus, the on-Strip location can't be beat. One suggestion: try to pick a room on the upper floors to stay away from the constant din of the giant air-conditioners at the lower levels, but I'm not sure if this is possible since the rooms are computer-assigned.

The Riviera

Just wondering the last time they moved furniture, there were broken cigarettes and straws dust behing the bedside table. Because we booked with [...] they would not give us another room as extended stay at a discount. It was over $100.00 Ridculous!!!

Riviera Hotel and Casino Trip

My friends and I flew in for the Dave Matthews concerts and the Andrew Dice Clay show at the Riviera. The rooms were nice and the beds were amazing, most comfortable I have ever slept in. The hotel is a little off the beaten path and is showing it's age. There is not much happening at that end of the strip. The biggest complaint I had is that none of the staff knew anything that was going on or anything about the hotel. We asked multiple people where the Dice show was, that was in their own hotel and had been showing 5 days a week for months now, and no one knew anything. Anytime we asked a question, the staff looked at us like "how should we know?" The price of the hotel was right and that is why we stayed there, but if you can get something comparable closer to the center of the strip, you will save a ton of money in cab fees.

Nice for the price

The room was nice, super nice linens, down comforter, all nice & new...the bathroom could be updated, but was ok. Good location on the strip if you are going downtown...Riv. is about 1/2 way it seems. The city bus (duece) is a great deal, can take some time, but cheap. McDonalds is across the street along with a denny's about a block away and gift stores, also the Ross clothing store. It wasn't to bad to walk the strip we went to the Mirage and back on foot the first night. There is lots to see while walking so if your up for it and want to save on room prices. go for the Riv. As far as gambling, maybe not that awesome, but for the price I don't think you can beat it. We'd stay again!

Take the Duece (city bus) to fremont street or all the way down the strip. Can take a little while during busy hours, but well worth the $7 for 24 hours or $15 for 3 days. I think they said the price was decreasing too starting in Jan 2010

This Old Hotel ain't What She used to be

I was in Vegas for the Marathon. An had requested a non smoking recently updated room. That's what my confirmation had come back with.To say, I was very disappointed with the hotel was an understatement. The hotel front desk personnel have been replaced by machines. But the machines were broken and they had only 2 people checking everyone in. They front desk personnel were rude and short with us. They gave us a "Junior" suite at no extra charge but it was not a non smoking room. We got to the floor and the air quality was good. Got into the room and it smelled like an old musty and dirty casino smoking room. I called down to the front desk they said they had no more rooms. And that's the best they could do.We went to the marathon the next day and came back to our room at 4 pm to find that it hadn't been cleaned or restocked. We got some towels from the Maid and were taking a nap. An hour later 5 PM the maid barged in and wanted to clean the room . The next day they came by at 8 am (we were checking out that day) why they came by at 8 am is beyond me.. The Riviera needs to be rebuilt their air handling systems is atrocious, and the entire casino was poorly maintained. Now to the good stuff, the bellmen and the Valets were very friendly and helpful. They were horrified when they found out that the executive [...] transportation shuttle dropped us off at the front door of the casino instead of the valet / taxi area. And promptly took care of our bags and brought them up to our room. One of them recommended and incredible restaurant nearby (Piero's.).Pay a little more and stay at one of the newer hotels.
