Nice people...needs to be updated.
Service was fine, rooms were big, and pool was nice. Far off strip, did have shuttle, otherwise $10-each way to strip by taxi. SMOKEY! VERY VERY SMOKEY. I could hardly breathe in the Rio. Other hotels seemed less smokey. Would not stay here agian. Bad location if you want to see the strip or go shopping. Showers were horrible, wall paper was peeling .

Nothing to write home about
It isnt too far away from the strip but if you dont have a car or if you dont feel like driving your car because you may be partying, its not worth the wait for the shuttle. Next time I would rather be in the middle of the strip rather than off the strip. We drove and it was so complicated to get to the hotel, and once you are in the hotel if you are in the masquerade towers, it is that much more confusing just to get to the elevators...it was just too much unnecessary walking. I would rate it a 2 overall.

Good price but inconvenient
We used self-parking and had difficulty finding the registration desk; elevators to rooms were hard to find; all the resturants were prohibitively expensive for us, and leaving hotel for meals required either a shuttle or a long walk across the interstate highway and beyond. I was disappointed that I had to pay a $10.00 fee to use the internet. The room itself was large and gave us a great view of the city, especially at night. Great food at great prices, one of Vegas's one-time claim to fame, is definitely a thing of the past.

Long walk from hotel
Recommend driving to another, better-located hotel-casino's self-parking garage and eating at an established food chain with more reasonable prices.

Functional but not fun, Suitest Rooms
Went for Halloween! On the upside, no onewas upset about the condition I was in most of the time. Plus I got a huge room. Houskeeping was zealous, in fact they came in and cleaned despite the don't disturb sign outside the door- that freaked me out! That was nerve racking, but nothing has turnedup missing. The bartenders are too busy staring at their registers or chatting with other staff to take a drink order, so waiting at an empty bar can take a long time. The restraunts are only open at specific times, specifically not most of the time it seemed, except for the AABG which was open all night. This is a problem because the hotel is still too far away from its neighbor much less the strip to accomodate a proper, short, stumble. Casino waitresses are delightfully undressed, but this does not make up for a lack of consistant dining options, a lack of a hot tub, or the pool being closed except on saturday and sunday. This is a great hotel if you plan to spend little time in it. And the All American Bar and Grill is exceptable at 3:30 in the morning. Gift shop had reasonably priced booze, as well as food in many simpler forms.

Nightlife tip:
Not Applicable
Rio is not the all night playground I needed it to be. I paid full price for every single drink during the 5 night stay, and was asked if I was "alright" 3 out of 4 times that I ordered. AND I wasn't really drinking that much, so questions like that from unfriendly staff members made me feel very unwelcome. The only smile came from a kind young lady in the Masquerade Bar, who I gathered was an independant contractor and NOT Rio staff. If you are planning on clubbing/ partying every night, and don't have your own reliable connection, consider one of the companies that arranges VIP access to venues like LAX or Tao, its worth the added expense to actually enjoy yourself. I did not try the shuttle to the strip, nor the VooDoo lounge (fear of glass elevators,) but my cohorts thought highly of the club on the 51st Floor. Save your big tips for Housekeeping and Bellhop/Valet services. Also, the front desk staff is not forthcoming with info (if you're a beginner, you will miss out) so ask alot of questions.

Stay Away
Discounting the very noisy room and the Rio's inability to move us after making a request on the second day, this must be the oddest hotel room I have stopped in. The rooms are huge but are not furnished to suit, a massive television which is at right angles to the seating area and the bed cannot be viewed from either. Also the room is fitted out with a kitchen sink, why? If you want access to the rest of Las Vegas it is a 15 minute walk to the strip so think carefully before booking here you would most probably be better going on the strip for an ordinary room not a suite at the Rio. Will not be going back. PS Las Vegas is great

Very disappointing
The room was fine - spacious and clean. We've been to Vegas many times the week before Christmas, and in all the other hotels, the buffets and other restaurants were all open for all meals. No so at the Rio. We had to leave the hotel for most meals because of the lack of choices....most notably, the "World Famous Buffet," was not open for Breakfast 2 of the 3 mornings we were there. We did have dinner at the Buffet the 1st night and the wait was ridiculous - considering that there were DOZENS of empty tables once we got inside. The food was very mediocre - definitely, not worth the wait.

OMG... What a disappointment!
The service was SLOW, unfriendly... NO one cared... The fire alarm went off at 2am- It was LOUD and TOTALLY obnoxious. They couldn't get it together to turn it off. And then finally, after 1/2 hour, it shut off. It was such an embarrassing place to take my aunt to. Shower curtains had mold, plumbing was awful, toilet was difficult to flush, and housekeeping had issues with bringing us extra blankets and towels. To top it off... the food/restaurants at this HOTEL were GOD AWFUL. Service was BAAAAADDDD. We waited 45 minutes for fast food chinese, only to get hair with out food and no apologies for it.

No free Internet Access
Rio Hotel was good, far more than expected comparing it from another hotel in Las Vegas. They even have a boutique selling very cheap souvenir items like shirts and all. But what I didn't like about Rio is that they don't offer free internet, whether wi-fi or data cable access. I think it is the only hotel that offer the service for a fee, $14 per day; From my previous hotel same week, the wi-fi service is free or you can choose to have the high speed connection for business purpose for only $7 during the entire stay. When I inquired about why the service is not free, they said it's because I only paid $50 for deposit. (which is the amount they required, had I known, then I could have paid for $100 to get internet acces.)
