disappointed
a bit let down
When I arrived at the hotel I was informed that I did in fact have a room however it was not the room I had reserved. the room I reserved was a non-smoking room with a king size bed. So I was surprised when I was told my only options were to take a suite for an upcharge that may be smoking or non-smoking, or I could take a guaranteed non-smoking room on the pet "pet friendly floor" I ended up on the pet floor. Now the hallway floor smelled of old pet urine and dogs were barking all day and night. My room didnt smell too bad but I did call the desk to ask for a room transfer ASAP. For my week long stay I was told daily that no rooms had opened up! REALLY? My room was not the cleanest and it was apparent that dogs had chewed the walls and torn the carpet. I went to another tower to visit a friend and imagine my surprise to see a beautiful room! This was very upsetting to me. Now if I was able to move hotels I would have on day #2. However I was attending a conference and my job had made some of the arrangements. Lets just say I will not be staying at the RIO again when I am there for personal business as the non-caring attitude didnt impress me nor did my room.

Not what I expected
Booked smoking room, got one smoking and one non-smoking. Rooms still have old school 30" TVs. Manager promised to get us a smoking room for the second night but couldn't. Will never stay at this hotel again.

Good convention/personal location
Was there for a convention. Good location. Close to the Vegas strip. Plenty of adult and family offerings. Great pools. Good party atmosphere at night. Only thing missing was a microwave in the room. Very friendly/helpful staff. Would stay here again.

I won't go back
This is no "resort" Overpriced, smokey and boring. A few standouts; the chinese restaurant with dim sum was a good value and high quality and the Rio Java stand where the woman manning the counter was great. Linens were torn, paint was chipped, dresser drawers were misaligned. Las Vegas is designed to strip every guest of as much money as possible, but $14 per day for wireless internet? Charging for bottled water when the tap water is vile? I won't go back.

I was overall very pleased with the service. The valet was especially helpful and made sure since we were staying at the hotel we would be able to use valet even though they were full. Everyone was very pleasant, professional, and I would definitely recommend this hotel to others!!
