The New York New York Hotel Las Vegas was opened in 1997, at a time when Las Vegas enjoyed a spate of newly-designed themed hotels. The resort is owned and operated by MGM Resorts International, and a stay at the New York New York really is uncannily like taking a leisurely stroll through the Big Apple itself. Gaze up at the magnificent Statue of Liberty replica overlooking the Las Vegas Strip, ride the Big Apple Coaster (reminiscent of Coney Island's heyday) or dine at Nathan's Famous Hot Dog. Evening entertainment is provided by the internationally-renowned Cirque du Soleil in their sensual show Zumanity; why not enjoy a fruity pre-show Manhattan cocktail at the Bar at Times Square beforehand? Get into the real spirit of Vegas at the 1,500 slots and 67 gaming tables within the 84,000-square-foot casino.

Neighborhood
The NY-NY, as it's known locally, is situated just north of McCarran Airport and the famous 'Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas' road sign. There's so much to do at the resort that decisions become tough, but it's simple to travel to other parts of the Strip, either on foot via monorail, or by taking the Deuce -a bus service that travels along Las Vegas Boulevard all the way to Fremont Street -where visitors can witness free sparkling light shows in the evenings.
Hints and tips

Inexpensive, fun hotel

Been to Vegas three times and really enjoyed the look of the hotel. Stayed three nights and really enjoyed it. The roller coaster is a bit close to some rooms and can keep you up, but overall a really near place.

Great place for a honeymoon

The room, gym, and casino were amazing! One con was the smoky casino, but it is Vegas, so not much can be done about that. We stayed in the Century tower and we could hear the roller coaster and screams (it wasn't too bad though). I don't know if that is the case in the other rooms. The staff was impeccable (except for one housekeeper who was not friendly). The location was perfect for us. The rates were great. Overall, we were highly satisfied and would stay there again in the future.

In the center of EVERYTHING!

You're gonna love this place! From check-in to check-out, it's easy and convenient! The room is spacious and immaculate. There is so much to do and see--right there in the hotel. Right across the street is the MGM grand where you can jump right on the Monorail and get to anywhere on the strip you like in no time! Being in the center of the Vegas Strip has it's advantages too-- you can pretty much walk to anywhere! I would most definitely stay at this hotel again!

Gay Man's Fun Getaway

Great experience. The hotel's room was a good size with a great view. It stated is was a king size bed - but it was not a true king size bed - it was more like a larger queen. The bed was comfortable and the housekeeping service did a great job. I was surprised the room did not have a refrigerator. They normally charge for one. However - if you need a refrigerator for medical usage, they do not charge for it. The Hotel layout was well done, and its New York City theme was fun. I saw a Cirque du Soleil show featured in New York New York. I found the adult themed show extraordinary well done - the theme centered around sensuality made you feel good about yourself and the fun side of sexuality. I loved the Valet Service and highly recommend it. It's easy, extremely convenient and for a few dollars saves the trouble of traipsing through a parking lot. Finally, the Hotel's location is extremely convenient. Located at the corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Ave - access to the highway is 1 block away. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

New York New York does not have a buffet. Many nearby hotels do offer their own buffet - and the walk to other Hotels are fun - as there is a lot to see on the strip. I would HIGHLY recommend googling "buffet reviews" for the Hotels. It gave me insight into both the quality and cost of the buffets. Before choosing your dates of visit - check the vegas.com (or call them) and find out what are the major performers and attractions. Also check Groupon.com. They offer all sorts of deals, including a 2 for 1 hot air balloon ride or 1/2 priced helicopter rides over the strip or over the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon

Good

Good all rounder. Busy theme hotel. NYC buzz in LV. 2nd time... And would go again. Value mid range.. Yes better out there if you want to pay... But also a lot lot worse.... Visit most on the strip, and you will stick on the carpets! But not at NYNY

Family Visit

I enjoyed visiting with my cousin from Virginia. I was somewhat surprised by the state of the room - no refrigerator, yet at check-in I was informed of the mini-bar (where would that have been?); the bathroom 'hot' faucet on the sink was broken (New Yorker rm 572); and more than once I got poor direction from desk staff. With that being said, I found the staff at the America restaurant very inviting, the ladies bringing drinks, and the Bell Desk staff very polite and helpful

Ok

The ambience was definitely New York. The service left something to be desired. [...] they neglected to mark our account as being able to charge said buffets to our rooms causing an embarrassing hold-up in line. They also forgot to mention that the free buffets weren't good at the restaunts in that hotel. Every day, we had to go to another hotel to eat breakfast in order to use the pre-paid coupons. They didn't even clean our room on at least one of the days we were there. My blow dryer was broken, the wireless internet barely worked, the bed was short-sheeted, and the fitness facilities closed at 7 pm.

Better than the real thing!

Amazing architecture and design! The shops, food, and accommodations were all great! We could have never left the hotel/casino and we would have been happy. Very clean facilities, friendly staff, and all the food varieties you could want. Next time, we will have to try the steakhouse (the only place we were not able to try!)
