The New York New York Hotel Las Vegas was opened in 1997, at a time when Las Vegas enjoyed a spate of newly-designed themed hotels. The resort is owned and operated by MGM Resorts International, and a stay at the New York New York really is uncannily like taking a leisurely stroll through the Big Apple itself. Gaze up at the magnificent Statue of Liberty replica overlooking the Las Vegas Strip, ride the Big Apple Coaster (reminiscent of Coney Island's heyday) or dine at Nathan's Famous Hot Dog. Evening entertainment is provided by the internationally-renowned Cirque du Soleil in their sensual show Zumanity; why not enjoy a fruity pre-show Manhattan cocktail at the Bar at Times Square beforehand? Get into the real spirit of Vegas at the 1,500 slots and 67 gaming tables within the 84,000-square-foot casino.

Neighborhood
The NY-NY, as it's known locally, is situated just north of McCarran Airport and the famous 'Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas' road sign. There's so much to do at the resort that decisions become tough, but it's simple to travel to other parts of the Strip, either on foot via monorail, or by taking the Deuce -a bus service that travels along Las Vegas Boulevard all the way to Fremont Street -where visitors can witness free sparkling light shows in the evenings.
Hints and tips
Celebrating a special occasion while vacationing in Las Vegas? Pop a bottle of NY-NY branded champagne, available exclusively on hotel grounds. Just let the staff know and they'll make sure it's chilled, ready and waiting for you when you check in (fees apply).

NEVER again

My wife and I will never stay here again. We have been to Vegas before and thought we would give NYNY a try, big mistake. The room had a cheap seedy hotel feel to it. We payed for a strip view what we got was a brick wall and the rollercoaster. There was not a fridge or microwave in the room and the two chairs that were in the room were noticably wet when we checked in, I thought maybe it was febreeze at first but after a sniff im pretty sure it was urine, there was also a big iron burn in the middle of the floor. The bathroom was disgusting, mildew in ever nook and cranny, a rough hole cut into the sheet rock for the sprinkler head so debris kept falling out.

Did not feel like a 4-Star hotel

The employees at this hotel were very pleasant and helpful although it appeared that they were understaffed as the check in and check out lines were long and moved slowly. The rooms did not feel like they were four star, maybe a 3 star at best. Our room looked onto a a roof and rollercoaster which ran every few minutes. Overall I would not choose this hotel again.

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

I recommend the nightime open-top bus tour of the Las Vegas strip and Freemont St. It can be purchased for 20.00 online or at the Excaliber Hotel for 25.00. Great way to see alot in a short time (3.5 hours)

Just OK....

Nothing really special about this hotel.... Service was just OK. No one was unfriendly but didn't do anything more than they had to... The casino/restaurant/open area was just like a giant room with fake buildings and seems really cramped and laid out poorly. It really wasn't a busy time and it just seeed like people were on top of one another. The best thing about NYNY was the room. It was well decorated and really comfortable with a big bathroom. Had safe, ironing board, coffee pot, ect... For about the same price I think Monte Carlo is a better bet.

Time-saving tip: Not Applicable

This hotel is really close to the Airport so don't wait/pay for one of the strip shuttles. A Taxi is the way to go...takes about 10 minutes door to door and is only about $13-$15. This also applies to MGM and Monte Carlo.

My trip didn't go good at all

My trip didn't go good at all and i brought my brother out for his 21 st birthday and the problems began right away because when we checked in we had booked 2 rooms together with a view and we were put in two different towers and when we asked if we could have them just in the same tower the staff said that was not an option i cant figure that with all the rooms in this hotel that we just cant be in the same tower and one room had a view of the loud roller coaster. Then the hotel gave a key to a couple that came in in the middle of the night and woke my father up then at 5 am they did it again and when my father came to say something he was then locked out of his room with the key changed with all his things in the room including his wallet and they would not issue him a key because he was not checked into that room because they checked someone into it when we still had the room so i was woke up and had to come down show my paper work for him to get a key into his room then when i asked in the morning if there was anything that could be done make the situation right they asked me why they should do anything because they did nothing wrong. this is why i will never recommend the new york new york to anybody. Hotel was nice but there were no extra blankets or pillows in the room or tea/ coffee maker. The casino staff was okay but the table staff could use a happy face and talk to the guest.

family getaway

The accessible room was very big and roomy and close to elevator with a nice view of the city. However, the height of the bed was too high and my sister on wheelchair needed assistance to get in the bed and to transfer herself from the bed. The bathroom had such a bad small of urine I believe no one had clean the floor a long time. The second room had the same smell very bad small.
