The New York New York Hotel Las Vegas was opened in 1997, at a time when Las Vegas enjoyed a spate of newly-designed themed hotels. The resort is owned and operated by MGM Resorts International, and a stay at the New York New York really is uncannily like taking a leisurely stroll through the Big Apple itself. Gaze up at the magnificent Statue of Liberty replica overlooking the Las Vegas Strip, ride the Big Apple Coaster (reminiscent of Coney Island's heyday) or dine at Nathan's Famous Hot Dog. Evening entertainment is provided by the internationally-renowned Cirque du Soleil in their sensual show Zumanity; why not enjoy a fruity pre-show Manhattan cocktail at the Bar at Times Square beforehand? Get into the real spirit of Vegas at the 1,500 slots and 67 gaming tables within the 84,000-square-foot casino.

Good location for Wedding Preperation

I go to Vegas allot but first time to attend my daughters wedding. Hotel was good for getting everyone in one spot in one location that is on the strip and close to airport. Was disappointed with the spa if using the cost as a baseline. Hotel had three good resturaunts that allowed me to have both formal and casual dinning to meet new families for first time. Anymore then a week and I would have been looking for other dinning locations.

A fair deal

We went to Zumanity, which is very sexual, but funny and light; very enjoyable. We also went to Coyote Ugly which is a lot of fun. They dance on the bar and give free shots to visitors willing to dance on the bar too. The staff seemed to have a lot of fun. The casino had some of the fastest service for those free drinks and the servers were friendly. There isn't a whole lot of shopping in the hotel or nearby but there is really easy access to the hotels around it, because they're connected by sky ramps and walkways. The pool was always crowded and it was difficult to find a chair. The pool doesn't get any deeper than 4 feet so you're always squatting to stay mostly in the water. The food court area was unlike any other and feature non-chain restuarants, all of them highly recommended. Overall, it was a very good time.

Everything is about a dollar more outside by the pool. You're much better off getting your food and drink to go from America and taking it with you.

Everything was where we needed it to be. First time visting vegas we didn't have a problem finding our way around. Fun Time at NYNY

Check in was very smooth. We arrived around 9:00 pm on a Thursday night, and waited approximately 5 minutes in line to check in. Dinner at Gallagher's restaurant was much anticipated, but disappointing. We were in town for our 5th wedding anniversary and wanted to have a romantic dinner at Gallagher's. The restaurant was quite loud, as it is right off the casino floor. The food was good, but not great. Hotel staff was friendly, and the location is ideal for visiting M&M World across the street at the MGM, and most other casinos were a short tram ride or walk away.

Dining tip: Short drive from hotel

The buffet restaurant at Fitzgerald's in downtown Las Vegas had an excellent steak dinner for $8.99. It included soup, salad, potato, ribeye steak, wine beer or soft drink, and dessert. Eating at the downtown casinos is much more reasonable than eating at one of the large hotels on the strip.

Like the roller coaster, down and up

First, no reservation found thru Orbitz, had to move room, slow check in, front desk girl after one try could not get charge card processed but then minutes later card worked well for entire trip, outdated shower standing water, pool area small and for $65.00 you can update to get a chair, and cost to use PC. Some staff were super helpers and friendly.

Review of New York New York Hotel & Casi

When we arrived in our room, we noticed dust all over the bathroom counter and on the ice bucket. Bedspread was also crumpled like someone had laid on it. Nice hotel though -- a lot to do there right on the property, good restaurants, and fabulous location. Pool was too small and not enough chairs around. the real kicker was $14.99 day for internet service and mandatory $3.00 per day charge for phone which we didn't use even once -- this is not right! We asked front desk at check in where was closest free internet service and she replied at the airport so there is no way around not paying the $14.99 a day if you need to use internet. We learned on last day you can go into the ESPN Zone Restaurant right on the property and get free internet service. This made me angry after we were told the nearest free internet service was at the darned airport -- they lied! It was overall a great trip though and would recommend this hotel as it was good for the price. Oh, and the time share sales people there annoyed us so just don't give them eye contact and ignore them -- don't stop or they won't let you go within few minutes -- I don't like this when I'm on vacation! Even if we walked by the same person 20 times in one day, they tried to stop us each and every time and acted rude if we tried to brush them off.
