Since first opening its doors in 1996, the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino has proven itself as one of the most sought-after hotels in Las Vegas. Combining the vibrancy of modern America with traditional, classic aspects of historic Europe, the Monte Carlo is a true blend of opulence and unassuming modesty -featuring marble flooring, flowing fountains and grand archways. The hotel's personal motto is, in fact, 'unpretentiously luxurious', which they absolutely achieve, giving guests the comforting impression that their every need is catered to. Dine on cuisine rustled up by award-winning French Chef Andre Rochat -one of the world's original celebrity chefs before the likes of Todd English and Wolfgang Puck- or play your hand at blackjack in the 102,000-square-foot casino room before catching a performance by the world-famous Blue Man Group, the Monte Carlo's resident entertainment act.

What I did not like!

They had closed the brew pub for a private group without notice. The construction going on next door went 24 hours a day, and it picked up about 5 am!

Great Place with Good Value

This was my first time staying at the Monte Carlo and I actually thought it was great. There IS a lot of construction going on immediately adjacent to the hotel. They are building the new City Center right next to the Monte Carlo. But all of the loud noises and drilling, jackhammering, etc. had been completed by the time of my trip and I really never heard any noise from the cranes and workers at the construction site. Also, the hotel staff gave great advice as to which rooms would be the quietest. The hotel is not great on amenities - there are no robes in the room, and if you request robes, they require a deposit or a credit card. There are no coffee machines in the rooms. There are no minibars. Overall, there are small things missing that could really up the luxuriousness of the place - but who cares about small things when it's such a good value. They did give me a refrigerator without charge when I requested one. The shopping area inside the hotel is EXTREMELY small in comparison to the other strip hotels, but they do have a liquor store - the only one in the central area of the strip. And you can walk to many other shopping areas so this isn't a large concern. The dining option were pretty good and they have a small area of fast food places that stays open late (5am). The buffet was definitely worthwhile at lunchtime. The pool is great but only receives direct sunlight for a few hours of the day - it is shadowed in the morning by the hotel building itself, and shadowed starting in late afternoon by the City Center project going up next door. The servers and bartenders at the pool are very friendly. The casino isn't as large as others and doesn't have as many table games, but the dealers are very friendly and it's never so crowded that you can't get into a game you want to play. Yet there are usually people milling around the casino so it's not completely dead either.

Dated

The Hotel was average adn if I were paying more than $100 for the room, I would have been very disappointed. The check in was great, fast and easy but the room was very average and there was construction all night on hotel and next door.

Very nice hotel, friendly staff

The casino was not as good at letting you spar back and forth with winning and losing, it was losing all the way...which is no fun. Don't mind losing, as long as we have fun doing it, but without ever winning, not much fun. Will go somewhere else next time. Somewhere more in he middle of the strip.

Good Value Overall

Arrived on Labor Day-stayed 4 nights. Good value, but...a few issues. The construction project next door (City Center) is a huge issue for this hotel and will continue to be over next year or so. Our desk clerk was very accomodating. When we went to our room it had not been cleaned yet. We just went to the casino, had a drink and room was ready within an hour or so. The Monte Carlo is sandwiched between the Bellagio and New York New York and is being swallowed by the City Center project. The hotel AC in the casino, lobby and rooms never seemed to be comfortable. It was a bit musty--(maybe due to all the ongoing work nearby). Although we adjusted thermostat in our room it didn't make much difference. Room was spacious, view was nice and housekeeping adequate. Pool area was biggest plus with wave-pool, lagoon pool and lazy river. Great bar/wait service and amenities. All staff in hotel, pool and restaurants we encountered were very polite and helpful. Casino dealers--not so much. Most seemed to be going through the motions and didn't really try to inject their personalities into the games as is usually seen in this and other casinos. We noticed this at some roulette and black jack tables. We had breakfast at the Cafe restaurant and service and food were excellent. Ditto for the Brewery. Did not dine at other locations (Italian, Asian or buffet) in-house except coffee from Starbucks in food court. All in all, the pool area, and location on the strip made for an enjoyable trip to Las Vegas but the Monte Carlo is showing wear and tear from ongoing changes. However, if the price is right we would consider staying here again in the future.

Tasteful decor, great service, comfortable and great value for money!!

From checking in to checking out the service was awesome, the buffet was great and good value for money, tasteful decor (sometimes missing in Vegas Casinos!) and comfy beds. What more do you need? I recommend to anyone who wants a great stay in Vegas for a great price. I LOVE the Monte Carlo hotel.

Very Family Friendly

The Monte Carlo was a nice hotel to stay in if you are with a family with either young children or elders as that was who seemed to be most present. Being in my twenties and with a group of the same age girls, I would next time try to stay in a hotel that had people my own age as a whole. I would return back to this hotel if I was with my family, no doubt. The pool area was nice and I am sure a lot nicer once the construction is finished. Everything was nice and clean, people were willing to help. I wasn't too impressed with the beds, they weren't too comfortable but we never spent much time in our room so I suppose it was okay. The bathroom was nice and clean with great shower pressure. I appreciated the in room safe which was nice. They also had a full length mirror in the room with good lighting.

Small hotel with big values.

Monte Carlo keeps with up with the Vegas 'vibe' and you get a smaller more manageable environment to navigate without feeling overwhelmed amd frankly 'lost'in a too large and chaotic space. Lovely, clean and friendly, it is very inviting. Great dining choices for every palate and pocketbook. Enjoyed the Pub with the option of outdoor seating with pool views. Enjoyed the lazy river and the wave pool --kept the kids very happy. Rooms were large enough and quiet.Location is great--don't feel trapped by having to take cabs all the time near trams and all the hot spots!
