Monte Carlo Resort and Casino

Although clean when we checked in, our room was skipped by housekeeping after our first night,a very unpleasant surprise when we returned to our room early in the AM as we left food containers and used towels on the bathroom floor. We had also asked for maintenance to fix our shower because it was backing up, and to take a shower meant to stand in a foot of dirty water. Our toilet was also not flushng every other time or so, and we asked to have that repaired. Will not stay there again, and would not recommend it.

The hotel did not clean the rooms very well I had paper on the floor in the bath room for the 3days I was there. The beds were very unconfrtable and the hotel was noisy. you can here water runing , showers etc.

We had previously stayed at the Monte Carlo Hotel and Casio and enjoyed our stay. We checked in late (about 12:45 AM) and my wife requested a room closer to the elevator as she was very tired. However, for the next two night after about 11:00 PM, we could hear something moving, and/or scratching, and/or gnawing in the walls that sounded like a mouse, a group of mice, or a rat. I did not feel a mouse/rat attack was imminent (even though my wife feared one)and did not request another room because I did not want the hassle of moving our stuff again nor did I want to be branded as a nut or malcontent. Nonetheless, when you pay as much as we paid for the room for three nights, you expect a better experience.

The Monte Carlo seemed some what old and not much effort was put into how it looked. No extras-very bare bones, even staffing. The staff was not friendly or accomodating. Of all the staff over 4 days only 3 gave more than minimum service. The room was somewhat small for 2 and the bathroom counter was too small. We went expecting someplace nice where we could unpack and dress up to go out. We only each had one suitcase and there just wasn't enough room for our things (one luggage rack, too few hangers, not enough drawer space.) We did spend the first night there having dinner and playing the tables, but the place was so empty it wasn't fun.

The room I stayed in at the Monte Carlo had more negatives than positives. The doors - entry and between rooms - rattled a lot when the room next door was accessed. There was noise through the walls, doors, and windows (multi-year construction project immediately next door on two sides). It had an old tube-type TV with a very dusty screen that had some finger streaks, and seemed to never have been cleaned. The phone at the desk didn't work at all. There were big, wiped=looking stains on the interconnecting door. Wall paper was peeling in several places. The window was very dirty and spotted. The bathroom sink faucet handle was very loose and floppy, making it hard to control water flow and temperature. The basin wouldn't hold water and leaked badly. I definitely wouldn't pick this place again.

I think they are doing a lot of construction at this hotel right now. The view from the room was construction and the casino was half blocked off for construction too.

When my wife and I arrived, we were told that we could have a room with double beds, or one that was equipped for the handicapped. After my wife protested, a supervisor appeared, and after searching the hotel's room inventory, he miraculously found a room for us. This experience at the beginning of our stay was frustrating and annoying.

I have stayed at 2 other hotels on the strip and the Monte Carlo is in a good location and overall is a great choice. One feature we especially liked was having a food court in the hotel. I could get something light and fast and relatively inexpensive. Having said that, I would be remiss not to mention that next door is a major construction project called City Center that won't be complete until 2010. The construction seems to be 24/7. If you are a light sleeper as I am, this may be worth considering.

I have stayed in Las Vegas many times over the last ten plus years and this was my worst stay thus far. For the price I paid, I expected alot more from the hotel and instead felt as though I were staying in a budget hotel anywhere else in America.

Dated decor--toilet did not always flush--shower drained very slowly!!! Called for repairs--no one showed!
