Since first opening its doors in 1996, the Monte Carlo Resort and Casino has proven itself as one of the most sought-after hotels in Las Vegas. Combining the vibrancy of modern America with traditional, classic aspects of historic Europe, the Monte Carlo is a true blend of opulence and unassuming modesty -featuring marble flooring, flowing fountains and grand archways. The hotel's personal motto is, in fact, 'unpretentiously luxurious', which they absolutely achieve, giving guests the comforting impression that their every need is catered to. Dine on cuisine rustled up by award-winning French Chef Andre Rochat -one of the world's original celebrity chefs before the likes of Todd English and Wolfgang Puck- or play your hand at blackjack in the 102,000-square-foot casino room before catching a performance by the world-famous Blue Man Group, the Monte Carlo's resident entertainment act.

The front desk did not let us know in advance that there was no availibilty of standard rooms when we checked in and they gave us a suite. Then we had to shift into another room and had to wait forever for the next availibility.tHIS WAY WE WASTED LOT OF TIME.

Good but old room

Visiting for the CES 2011, the city was very busy and I wanted a nice hotel. I got their SPA room. The room pictures at their website were legitimate but certainly very edited as colors were like knew online and very different at the room. The TV was still an old CRT, and just one TV! I couldn't believe that! It was the first thing noticed when I walked the room. Also next to the TV there was a sound system that was very old, like it was purchased 10 years ago. The carpet also was not smelling good, although it was a non-smoker room. Several stains on the floor. Honestly speaking of smelling, the shower also had bad smell coming from the drain a couple of times. Everything on the room was working properly. Overall functionality of the hotel was good but I considered the price I've paid a little bit high for what I've got. I've stayed before in other hotels for less with more quality. The hotel amenities, in specific the SPA and their staff were very good. Got an excellent treatment from them. I highly recommend others visiting the SPA. I guess next time I would certainly look for a newer hotel. I give 3 stars because it was to a certain luxury and the rest of the property was also nice.

The good and not so good

The Monte Carlo is nicely located along the strip. The casino air quality was great even with smokers near by. When a missing sheet was noticed at bedtime we called housekeeping. Their management was snotty and unresponsive. The housekeeping staff were kind and professional and hotel management was appropriately responsive and apologetic. The valet staff were the best ever-considerate, helpful and quickly responsive.

Poor food quality, television did not work for most of the stay. Hotel should provide coffee maker/ refrigerator in guest room. There were no trash cans. Staff however was very nice and friendly.

Great place to stay, but no sun...

I had stayed there before and remembered how great the pool was. I was very disappointed this time. Because of some new construction in the area the pool only gets sun, in certain areas, for a VERY limited amount of time. I was so unimpressed. I was looking forward to lounging and was disappointed by what they had to offer.

Good hotel. Dated bedding, no microwave.

The lobby is exquisite and the location superb. But those probably are the only great things about it. Everything else was just ordinary. No microwave/mini fridge in the rooms. In room dining options expensive for what they taste (we ordered the General's Chicken and veg fried rice - both had stale dried rice, and the first dish had hardened chicken, as if it were cooked and stored a long time ago). Not to mention the $ 9.95 per night *resort* fee. And what does that include? - access to the gymnasium ( note the word access) - access to spa - two tiny water bottles per day (our room had two MC brand bottles both identical except the cap size/shape. Reminded me of how used bottled were refilled in Slumdog Millionaire) The walls are paper thin. We were on 22nd floor in a corner (one less neighbor) . Yet we could hear every single move of the people across, every curse word, every stumble, every tap activity, every door open/close). Only two things would make me believe it was an above average hotel: - excellent water pressure - excellent location In all other ways, this is an average hotel. In short, this is just an average hotel that has 4 diamond AAA ratings fore some reason.

The good and bad

Upon checking into the Monte Carlo, we were very disappointed. The window of the "strip view" was so dirty that we could hardly see out and we were unable to take any pictures. There was food on the wall, peeling wallpaper in the bathroom, etc. After talking to the desk supervisor, our room was upgraded to a suite on a different floor. This room was very nice, maintained well, and clean. I was still a bit disappointed with the view of the casino roof (they never tell customers about details like that, and if one isn't familiar with Vegas hotels, he doesn't know until reservations have already been made. I appreciate the supervisor's attempt to make us happy; however the suite only had a king size bed. With three people in the room, I had to sleep on a roll away bed which was not very comfortable. The casino was pleasant and offered a variety of gaming options. The cafe was a great place to eat: good food and reasonable prices.

Good location, room, and the Pub

Everything about the Monte Carlo was very nice. However, there were some young people on our our floor who insisted on having a party out in the hall after midnight. They were really loud and using some pretty strong language. When we called Security, the guard came up and asked them to break it up. Finally, peace and quiet.
