Vegas' MGM Grand Hotel & Casino celebrates the glory days of old Hollywood, when MGM was a dominant film studio. Glorious photographs of 1930s and 1940s movie stars adorn the walls of this Las Vegas institution as the casino echoes with the sounds of blackjack and slot machine winnings. With modern luxuries like three whirlpools and a slow-moving river for tubing, amphibious guests may never want to leave the water. The MGM Grand's Joel Robuchon is also the only three-star Michelin restaurant in Vegas, and the hotel is known for regularly hosting superstar-magician David Copperfield on the David Copperfield Theatre stage.
Key facts
  • More than 5,000 guestrooms
  • 24 restaurants, including Joel Robuchon, Hakkasan (Cantonese), Emeril's (Creole seafood) and Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill
  • 6 bars, including poolside venue Wet Republic Ultra Pool
  • Spa and sauna
  • Hair and beauty salon
  • Pool complex with 3 whirlpools and 4 swimming pools
  • David Copperfield Theatre and MGM Grand Garden Arena
  • In-house shopping
  • Casino
  • Wedding chapel
Neighborhood
Situated along the southern half of Las Vegas Boulevard, the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino overlooks the 'four corners' of the main Strip. If you're in a gaming mood, Vegas hotspots Bellagio, Luxor and Caesars Palace are just to the north, while the Paris hotel can whisk you away to France -complete with its own Arc de Triomphe- within a few minutes' walk. American classics Planet Hollywood and Hard Rock Cafe are only steps away, but if you want to zip up and down the four-mile Strip, skip the traffic jams and hop on the monorail.
Hints and tips
Check the schedules ahead of time at MGM Grand if you're a pop fan -superstars like Lady Gaga, Cher, Katy Perry and Justin Timberlake have all rocked the hotel's arena at some point. Fans of Vegas-based TV smash CSI: Crime Scene Investigation can use the show's cutting-edge technology at CSI: The Experience to solve a fictional crime.

fun friends wedding

We had a good experience with the hotel. We stayed for a friend's wedding. The place as very large and I found myself walking in circles some trying to find my way around, but they had so many stores and a nice food court where there was affordable food. I would not mind staying there again, but this is the only hotel I have stayed in, in Vegas, and don't know what the others are like, but I did have a positive experience with the MGM grand

The food court had many affordable choices. A lot of fast food, but you could eat fairly cheap right in the hotel and not pay outrageous prices

Would stay again

We had a great room with 2 Queen beds and a large couch (3 of us). We had plenty of room, it was comfortable and clean. The hotel had everything you could ask for (pools, shops, restaurants/bars). The drinks by the pool were outrageously expensive though. All in all we would stay there again.

vacation

The overwhelming smell of smoke was to much... when i went into other casino/hotel it was not as bad as mgm. The buffet needs a upgrade and cleaning. I was sitting at a 2 seat table against a 3-4 foot wall and there were food stains on the painted railing.. you need to keep it clean. also my shampoo / conditioners were not replaced.. I would have to catch a cleaner in the hall and ask... one nite I waited over a half hour for a attendant to notice my help lite on my slot machine..

Grand Canyon stop gap

Room was neat and tidy, bed was comfy, no facilities to make a coffee/tea, so had to go out for it. A nice stop gap for doing A Grand Canyon trip.

Great hotel. Decent staff

This hotel is located in a prefect spot to get to the tram to Mandalay Bay or ride the monorail. Great place to stay to get around hotel quickly. Would have rated a 5 but they are a little stingy with the drinks unless you are a high roller and the management hovering over you at the sportsbook is a little on the creepy side.

Enjoyed my stay

The hotel was decent. I had two different rooms. One was traditional, in the West Tower a little on the old side. The next morning the maids kept coming in my room trying to clean up. Did it more times than I could count. They were literally opening up the door with their key. My room did not have a do not disturb sign that I could hang on the door but I kept telling them that we were not ready to check out yet. That was annoying. The second night was a more modern art deco room. Never saw a hotel room like that before. Camel colored leather sleigh bed on the first floor of the hotel. Didn't really care for a ground floor room. The guest were a little noisey out in the hallway. The hotel served it's purpose. It wasn't fabulous and it wasn't horrible.

room expectation

I just feel that for this to be the mgm grand in Vegas that the rooms would be more updated or equal to the mgm grand in Detroit where i live and it wasn't. This hotel needs to be updated. The view was nice but the room had old furniture and wasn't up to date.
