There are several small shops on the strip that sell discount tickets to many of the shows at discount prices. Use them and avoid the show reservations at the hotel to save $$.

Watch out for drink prices in the hotel - I paid $12 for a fairly small margarita. I would recommend getting off the strip and out of the casinos for better dining options. I recommend Steiner's Pub that is a little farther south on the strip - definitely need a car, but it's worth the drive!!

Luxor redux
Tomcat Dec 11, 2009
First, I liked the location of the hotel on the strip. However, internet access is $1 a minute in the business center which ... sucks. You have better odds and payback on the slots. In spite of prepaying for room, there is a $100 per day deposit charged to your bank or credit card which has still not been cleared by them even two days after checking out. I had to ask for the $25 food credit that was part of the promotion and then had to request it again when checking out since it still had not been posted to my bill. Unlike other hotels, you can't snap pictures of some of the more impressive statues inside the hotel. A fire alarm went off at 2:18 a.m. and continued inside the room for about 5 minutes while they checked their system. Try going back to sleep after that! The buffet for breakfast and lunch is just ok but dinner buffet is much better. All in all, in spite of the clean, comfortable room, I would not stay there again.

aging vegas...

I stayed at the Luxor for a pharmacy convention. We gamboled and went to a show while we were there, and the location was ... fine just because it's very conveniently located on the strip. I thought the parking garage was too far away from the casino/hotel, and it was very cold walking in & out from the garage. I wasn't very impressed with the concierge or check in service at all. I also dislike the resort fees they charge. The rooms are fun - we stayed in the pyramid so it has atmosphere, but the hotel itself is aging and you can definitely tell.

I was very disappointed that the pool was closed, and that there was no areas outside that you could sit and read the paper ... and enjoy the sunshine/fresh air. The day before we left I asked if they had another pool? They told me no but we could use the Excaliber's Pool since theirs was under construction. That would have been nice to know upon check in.
