The downside of special offers

Expecting a great service and Luxury type room with the Hotel upgrade feature, disappointment kicked in at the registration. ... Thinking we will receive a room in the Luxor pyramid we were referred to a side tower not realizing we actually did sign up for it. [...]. In the attempt to make my kids happy and move to the actual main pyramid, I was treated very unfriendly with the remark I get what I signed up for.Next disappointment was the luxury room, which was far from the ones seen in the pictures presented. Looking out the window and seeing freeway instead of the Las Vegas strip triggered another attempt to see registration. It was made clear to me that Special offers do not include special view. Only more money can fix it. Thank you very much.Nevertheless, Las Vegas Strip experience with shows and entertainment made up for it and my family saw it as a great trip despite the room issues.By the way, the Luxor has no indoor pools for wintertime and kids are not allowed in the gym.Get ready to pay for amenities. Not even Internet access is for free.

On first look i was really happy with the hotel but i soon started realizing the wrong with hotel... 1) It is almost like ... walking into a shopping mall... 2) Ground floor is too noisy/smoke filled 3) Getting around in the hotel is bit of a pain 4) Rooms are not that good.. Feels depressing to get into one.. less lights.. smell something wierd.. 5) Housekeeping was not upto mark.. 6) Waste of money in resort fee.. what you get in that is 600ml of water.. Bad wired net connection. local and long distance calling (Who needs it anyways? Cell phone will be much cheaper).. Fitness center access (I am not sure how many want to workout after having to walk so much in Vegas) I guess my opinion became more strong when i had to stay in other 3 Star property in Vegas and it was much better than Luxor in all respect.. Good things--- I am still thinking... everything was just okie.. Cannot think of anything that will want me to come back to Luxor again.. There are many other good places to go...

Rooms seem poorly lit. Internet connection didn't work at first and the layout for connecting requires laying wires across ... the room, when they have a perfectly good desk just off the beds. They charge 11 dollars a day plus tax as a "luxury" tax, so you need to use the internet or the spa to get any value. My friend had a billing problem, and the manager gave him the run around. When he saw my bill we went back and a new person took the time to call and correct the problem, so be warned. The gaming floor was clean and mid-range minimums. The restaurants were good.

MIDDLE OF THE ROAD - OKAY FOR THE PRICE
Melissa/Travel DREAMER Jan 1, 2010
My husband is in a powerchair and required a handicapped room. The room was clean, but a bit worn.Big enough for his chair ... etc., but there was no type of bench or seat available in the shower, which would make bathing MUCH easier. We usually stayed on the strip on previous visits. The LUXOR was only a few minutes walk to other area hotels, but not so accessible to the strip area. It is also very large. If you like that great, but it seemed like EVERYTHING was so spread out and not conveniently located. We used the elevators with the powerchair. They were okay, but not very wide and old. The Atrium Dining area, small food court, was nice in the morning, pleasant to sit at and read the morning paper. Food selection was good for something quick . Relaxing atmosphere and very accessible. Other restuarants at the hotel were very accomodating as well. There was plenty of room on the casino floor to manuver and the tram and taxi stands were easily accessed as well. Efficient valet, bell desk staff and housekeeping made the stay nice. Like I said, the hotel is unique, the decor amazing, and the rooms were sufficient. Our son had the adjoining room and it was definitely more updated. Ours was your basic room, served the purpose and more important was clean.

We had a great time. The price was decent compared to other hotels on the strip. We were traveling with 2 young kids and were ... disappointed that the pool was closed for repairs, however they allowed us to use the Excaliber pool which was next door. The Luxor has a food court with a variety of restaurants. The rooms were ok, a little dated and dark inside, but clean. The rooms are also open the the casino area below, so depending on what room you get it can be noisy. We got to check out the "Bodies" exhibit that is at the Luxor. It was well worth it. If you are a guest of the hotel they give you $5 off $34 admission.

We paid for a spa upgrade to get a room with a hot tub in it, the hot tub area had black mold growing on the caulking around ... the tub. TV's were old a fuzzy, marble in bathrooms were cracked out and had lime scale growing on them. There are not many food choices there but they ones the do have were good. Staff was great and helpful. Check-in & out was easy. no public hot tub and pool was out of commission for the season.

Huey Dec 29, 2009
Our Deluxe Tower room had a small piece of wallpaper pealing off the hallway wall, the toliet did not work properly & had to ... be repaired. The rooms are nice but the bedding & furniture are below standards for a resort casino that wants to be world class. Rooms are quiet which was a nice bonus and very dark as the curtains block out all the Vegal lights, location is not good it is the last hotel on that end of the strip so getting to other casino's is a pain, a lot of walking poor access crossing the streets and a hassel getting to other resorts. Restaurants & food court way overpriced for the quality of food. Most shops inside were closed for remolding which was a disappointment. Shows were good. I would not ever stay there again.

We arrive and there is no record of our reservation. They then put us in the wrong room with a single bed and I had stated ... multiple times that we needed two beds. We had to walk all the way back down to get the correct room. That night at 1:00am the people next door were SCREAMING and keeping us up. Our reservation was fixed the next day while I was in my training class. I call and confirm it was resolved. We walk all the way up to our rooms to find that our keys have been deactivated. We had to walk back down AGAIN to get new keys. Our second night the same people were screaming and fighting again at 1:00am. This time Security was called and they were kicked out of the hotel. Express checkout didn't work through the TV so we had to go to the desk. The only good thing about the hotel was the entertainment was great.
