I will never going back to Harrah's

cruznov8 Nov 26, 2009

First, when you pay more for a better room don't expect better, is the same standard small room with a 18 century tv with 8 ... channels to watch the rest is ppv including the Disney and movies channels and what they call rooms with strip view, is the view of two big buildings (imperial palace and treasure island) in front of you, no strip view. Inside the casino very poor service and sometimes not at all, terrible food. The only good is that you have three beautiful hotels across the street that you can scape from a nightmare, I will be sure never go back to this hotel, sorry motel..

Not my favorite trip

dissappointed Nov 21, 2009

I payed an extra $16.00 per night for a so called "upgrade" for a better view of the strip. It wasn't that great. Had to ... pay $12.00/day for high speed internet (not wireless)and every day when I would try to log on, I had to call technical support. $15.00/day for a pot of coffee. [...]

THIS WAS THE TRIP FROM HELL!!!

LINDA & JOE BEA Nov 15, 2009

We travel to Harrahs in Atlantic City very often and have a much better experience. The rooms location and accommadations ... were much less than expected. It was a small room with only one queen size bed, and when we asked for a coffee pot, we were told that it would cost an additional $25.00 per night. Absolutely ridiculous!!!! [...] We are senior citizens and do not have the money to enjoy vacations very often so you can understand our disappointment.

Harrah's in Vegas

Lucky Girl in Vegas Oct 31, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

Good room to stay in to get around the town. I really enjoyed walking to the Bellagio's water show. The people on the ... sidewalks at night passing out girly information was a drawback, but never felt unsafe. Caesar's Palace right across the street, great statues and gambling. The Monorail is right outside of Harrah's, fun to travel to many casinos till 2 AM.

Go to the El Cortez downtown and eat at The Flame. I've eaten there 4 times and never had a better steak. Order their side dishes: mac and cheese, asparagus, and mashed potatoes. The bread basket alone is worth going for. They have the best walnut, raisin bread and others.

Harrah's in October 2009

Snowstar Oct 29, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

Great show by Mac King, comedian and magician, in the hotel. Location is perfect - close to the Fashion Show Mall, the ... Palazzo shops, the Forum shops, and the Venetian shops. Easy access to the Monorail, The Mirage, Caesar's Palace, and the Wynn. Hotel itself is average. Our room was clean and well kept by housekeeping. Very disappointing pool. There were no clean towels. Dirty towels, empty cups and trash were all around the pool. There was no staff at poolside. None of the pool bars were open. Many of the cabanas were dirty. One hot tub had no timer or working jets; the other worked minimally.

Harrah's - great spot - so so hotel -

Beach Bum Oct 22, 2009

Been to Vegas many times and have stayed at all the major hotels on the strip. This was the first time at Harrah's. ... Location is great, right in the middle of the strip so everything is within a reasonable walking distance. Hotel itself is ok - decent value for rooms under $100/night, but it is a very dated property relative to the other resorts on the strip.

Harrahs

ReeniT Oct 21, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

I like staying at Harrah's but we had a very difficult time with check in. We checked in at 10:30 in the evening and were ... told that our room was not ready yet that we would have to wait a couple hours for a non smoking room. I find it interesting that they charge you if you are not out of the room by 11am yet at 10:30 the room is still not ready. I am very sensitive to smoke so in order to get into a room, we had to upgrade for an additional cost of $56 per night. The clerk kept referring to us as "[...] prepays" the term was very derogatory. The remainder of our trip was fine - your basic Vegas casino but we like the place for its location. The bars do not charge a cover charge which is nice and all wait staff are very friendly.

Great location!

Hardworking RN and machinist Oct 21, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

Harrah's is in a great place on the strip. About halfway in between. The monorail stops there. Just outside the hotel ... there is McDonalds, Chipotle, a pizza place, a Denny's and a Panda Express. There is a crosswalk in front of the Harrah's that goes to the Ceasar's Mall. The Bellagio fountain is a walk down the strip, the opposite way is the Mirage and Venetian. We stayed at the MGM and the Venetian before. The hotel rooms were much bigger and better appointed, however more expensive. It depends on why you are going. The Harrah's is a great location and close to so many things. If you are planning on spending a lot of time in your room, you should consider a more expensive hotel. We went to the improv on Saturday night. That was the hardest we have laughed in months!!! Great show!! Also splurged and saw Donny and Marie---What showmanship! They were great, full of energy, genuine and really personable. They included lots of audience participation in the show. If you can get the prime seats and are/have been a fan of either of them, buy them. Even my husband enjoyed the show. If I have the opportunity to go again, I definately will.

There are 2 for 1 coupons for shows, too. They are a great bargain. It makes the dollar go farther and who doesn't need that? The carnival side of the hotel is romping until at least 1am...so if you want/need to go to bed earlier, ask for a room on the other side of the hotel.

We really only spent time in our room at Harrah's as we are not gamblers and seek outdoor dining which is available at other ... hotels but not Harrah's. The room was a good value [...]We toured numerous Casinos and found that the more expensive reosrts had less smoky casinos for some reason. Harrah's location was central on the strip and that worked well for us since we enjoyed other destinations in close proximity to Harrah's both to the North and South.

Would recommend to a friend!

we were offered an upgrade upon arrival at only $15/night more, and it was wonderful. nice patio (but they could have had ... that patio cleaner)....but we loved sitting out there in the mornings drinking coffee and taking it all in. hope we can get into that same room again next time.

Dining tip

Go to the El Cortez downtown and eat at The Flame. I've eaten there 4 times and never had a better steak. Order their side dishes: mac and cheese, asparagus, and mashed potatoes. The bread basket alone is worth going for. They have the best walnut, raisin bread and others.

Recreation/Attractions tip, Long Walk

I found some casinos that offered $3 Blackjack (Slots of Fun) 24 hours 7 days a week. There were several casinos that offered $5 Blackjack currently. Most be due to the economy right now.

Dining tip, Short Walk

Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grill had the best ribs I have ever had. We went back twice to eat there. Both McDonalds and Denney's is just close by for breakfast. Harrahs also has a buffet breakfast that we didnt get to try. If you go to any place for breakfast go earlier than you think you should as you will be standing in line. We also ate at Ming's Table...very good sushi and chinese food and Penazzi...delicious Italian food

Dining tip, Short Walk

It was a short walk either way to catch a bus to Downtown. They have the old time food specials that you can really get into. However, if you walk into the Harris's they have all their specials listed on bill boards. The 5.99 steak and egg special between 12am and 7am is the greatest. 2pm to 7pm was steak and shrimp and that was terrific too! A very friendly staff and I also enjoyed playing Keno while we ate..They had runners so that you did not have to get up and play.

Dining tip, Short Walk

When I checked in I got a bunch of coupons. most were for stuff I was not interested in. But one was for $5.00 off the Emperor's buffet in the casino next to them, Imperial Palace. The two are connected so I went over one day after I got back from a mountain biking tour of Red Rock Canyon. I was starving. But when I got there it was closed from 2PM - 4PM while they switched to the dinner offerings. I was hungry NOW so I never got to use my coupon. I went back over to Harrah's buffet instead. Just know that 2 hour block is there if you want to try the buffet next door to Harrah's

Time savers tip

Buy a bus pass to get around Vegas and to old Vegas.

A McDonalds and Dennys are almost part of the hotel, but the starbucks in the hotel does not except startbucks gift certificates and a grande cost over $5

Entertainment tip, Short Drive

If you're into shows and dining, check websites before you leave on your trip for promo codes and book before you go. If you want to chance it and wait until you get there a good resource is a place called Tix4Tonight. They have locations all across Vegas (one opening soon in Casino Royale next to Harrah's) and they have half-priced tickets and dining for same day shows that are not sold out. For example, I paid $50 (with a coupon) for the Titanic Exhibit. If I used Tix4Tonight, I could've gotten admission for $25 for that same day, same time, etc. They have all the headliners and small shows, too. Check them out.
